johnbatch··on Show HN: 40k HN comments mentioning books, extracted using deep learning
I started reading Unsong based on this HN thread [1] a month ago. I guess it’s not on Amazon as a book, so it didn’t match as a book?

johnbatch··on Designing the Facebook Company Brand
This is probably a better link: https://facebook.design/companybrand
johnbatch··on Verified by Twilio
If this works as advertised, this is great. Because of all the spam calls people just don’t bother answering the phone at all.

We just started testing texting people before we call them and getting consent on an opt in form to receive a text message.

Im still not sure on the “how”

johnbatch··on Keeping Tesla Roadsters Alive Is Serious Work
There is a California law requiring consumer electronics And appliances (not cars) to have parts for 7 years.

CIVIL CODE SECTION 1792-1795.8

(b) Every manufacturer making an express warranty with respect to an electronic or appliance product described in subdivision (h), (i), (j), or (k) of Section 9801 of the Business and Professions Code, with a wholesale price to the retailer of one hundred dollars ($100) or more, shall make available to service and repair facilities sufficient service literature and functional parts to effect the repair of a product for at least seven years after the date a product model or type was manufactured, regardless of whether the seven-year period exceeds the warranty period for the product

johnbatch··on Homemade Electric Motorcycle Stopped on M25 in Hertfordshire
From Twitter [1] It's Cedric Lynch's car. There is a YouTube video [2] of him showing it off and saying it goes 55mph and gets 150-200 miles on a charge of its Lithium batteries. And another picture of him with it (and also barefoot) [3]

johnbatch··on The Horror of Microsoft Teams
You can use a group naming policy to enforce your “Teams-“ prefix requirements [1]. Or you can use a custom domain policy so the email addresses are at “@teams.company.com” [2]

johnbatch··on The Horror of Microsoft Teams
Doesn’t it just create SharePoint sites for each team on the backend and store the files in SharePoint?

Even on 1:1 chat sharing a file just uploads it to OneDrive and uses OneDrive links.

johnbatch··on Why Are Creators Paying for TikTok’s Mistake?
TikTok allows users under 13 with some requirement that the person signing up should have their parent review these terms.

“If you are under age 18, you may only use the Services with the consent of your parent or legal guardian. Please be sure your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and discussed these Terms with you.”

johnbatch··on Show HN: What's My Aircraft?
Interesting the flight number I’m on next week is wrong. I guess you need a way to change the date.

United.com says UA 2190 is a Boeing 737-900.

Right now UA 2190 is from Chicago to Palm Springs.

Next week it’s from Houston to San Antonio.
