johen8··on Claude Cowork and chat are now one Claude
Chat, create a new landing page for the company!

"Sure! And since you were asking me about lobsters yesterday, I'll make it red and seafood themed!"

johen8··on List of references on Sony websites to players "owning" their digital games
Yeah I'm not sure what they are trying to argue with that defense. It's also clear that this is not the point that the plaintiffs are trying to make. We don't care if you call it a license or whatever, if we purchase something (like a digital movie), we should be able to at least maintain access to it for an indefinite amount of time. "oh but that's not feasible", that's not really my problem, you are the ones ditching physical
johen8··on SteamdDB Joins Nexus Mods
Damn, good for him, I guess, but what a bummer, I wonder how they'll enshittify the site. Also a reminder for everyone to disable or at least keep an eye out for updates on the extension. They say in the FAQ they won't change it, but i've been burned before by such promises
johen8··on FDA authorizes first wearable device that monitors ketone and blood sugar levels
Yes, yes, that's what I meant. The current glucose monitoring manufacturers don't have the incentive, we'll have to wait for someone to disrupt the market with something more permanent
johen8··on FDA authorizes first wearable device that monitors ketone and blood sugar levels
I also think there's no financial incentive from incumbents to develop something like this. Why would abbott develop something that works "forever" if they can milk people buying new sensors every 10~14 days.
johen8··on Google will expand age checks on Android worldwide till the end of the year
I never thought about that and I find it might actually be the right way for a solution... I was just looking into the Google Play Store now: in Brazil apps need to have an age rating, facebook and instagram for example are 16+, but browsers like firefox, chrome, etc are rated for 'all ages', even though you can access the whole internet through them. If we actually did what you said and inverted the logic: restrict everything to 18+ and specifically mark what is allowed to under-18s it would make parental controls much more effective.
johen8··on Europe's Ultra-Rich Could Fund a Substantial Part of the EU's Budget
The same principle of "just one more lane, bro", can be applied to "just one more tax, bro". You give the burocracy more money and they will find new, inefficient ways to spend it between them and their cronies, until it is not enough, and a new tax has to be created.
johen8··on Back to Kagi
What made me leave Kagi was the abysmal offer of widgets, plus the repeated assertion that they were working on them and at least until recently, no progress has been made. Brave search has maybe worse results and I miss the bangs to change result location, but at least during the world cup, for example, I used its widgets frequently, plus the financial, weather widgets... I wish they would actually go through with their promises with those
johen8··on Every new car sold in the European Union must include a driver monitoring camera
> if you didn't put belts on, back seats included.

I don't drive/don't have a car, but it drives me mad when I take an Uber, I go into the back seat and put my backpack beside me and the car keeps beeping because of it (I obviously put my seatbelt on). For some time I didn't understand what was that beeping until a driver told me, now when I hear it I know to put the seatbelt in my backpack seat, and remove it when I get off the car.
