Great. This is a fun app, I'm enjoying it.
joedev··on Introducing TrailerMatic.com
Neat idea. It would be great to be able to only show trailers of movies available on Netflix.

@AnonymousFlorida says "Anonymous NEVER asked for money"

Really?

"How much do you consider ENOUGH to pay us in order to work all the issues out"

"we shall give you our account number within the LR system and you send money from your LR acct to ours"

Considering these snippets from the email exchange, what am I not understanding about the claim that they did not ask for money?

If a hiring company were look at this they'll naturally see the "I currently make" amount and consider that market rate. After all, it matters not what people want to make, but instead by the amount for which people have demonstrated that they are willing to work.

joedev··on I don't think you browse like I do
Everyone who think's David's post was about privacy and information security didn't read it very closely. He said at multiple times that the purpose is because he wants to keep out of "personalized bubbles", wants to have a broader view of web content and to avoid sites changing "some state because it knew who I was".

It has nothing to do with what will happen to his browsing habit information or with dislike of being tracked.

joedev··on Apology to 37signals
Exactly. When I'm hurt by, and/or furious at someone, the last thing I want to do is spend cycles coming up with how they can make it better. Someone did me wrong and now they want me to figure out how to fix it? Hearing someone ask me that would make me even more mad and hurt.
joedev··on Curebit (YC W11) Raises $1.2 Million For Online Referral System
First: it's the law. Copyright covers "original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium". It expressly does not cover "procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery". http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/102.html

Second: if curebit used Highrise code verbatim in their product, I bet hell yes there would be tantrum about it.

joedev··on Is Programming Less Exciting Today?
No, it is not less exciting today than 20 years ago. The excitement is not about technology - for me it never was. It's about being exposed to a very wide range of people, businesses, fields of study. Building applications across a broad range of business domains means that programming never becomes less exciting. I love programming for that reason. It's never the same.
