Maybe instead of advertising as free coaching, choose words that will appeal to your target audience. In your case, instead of saying free, use libre or explicitly say free as in freedom. You have to understand that many people see "free coaching" and are immediatly put into anti scam mode.
> the job of a Chief Executive Officer is to run the company
Thats a very vague job description. Executive's jobs are to make investments that will maximize shareholder return and an executive of an engineering company will only be able to make the best investments if they understand the technology they are selling and their customers. People have been noting how engineers have been running more and more companies, thats because more and more companies rely on technology to drive their growth.
That second video is a horrible example of a counter argument. At the start of the video, the creator admits to having an agenda against Sabine due to her past comments on LGBT stuff. She also says at the start that she believes capitalism lead to most of society's ills. She also states clearly in her video that she doesn't have the proper knowledge of economics to be able to make a commentary. There is such a blatant predisposition and agenda that I am seriously baffled that you linked that video as an objective critisism of Sabine.
The thing is, the small percentage of people who can afford the panels already subsidized a large part of the energy supply to the population. In the south african townships, illegal connections to the grid are very common and a substantial part of the population lives in such areas.
You can't just turn up clockspeed and expect linear increase in performance. The chips are packed so dense with transistors that the chips have to do some magic to be able to operate at those clock speeds without frying. Desktop parts don't really care about energy efficiency and are thus designed to be able to operate like that since max performance is more important than efficiency. Microarchitectural design decision allow engineers to pick tradeoffs for where they want to place their chips in the market, but most major advantages between chips come from fabrication. And these days there aren't much gains left to be made there.
Do you mind sharing examples of what you guys use it for? I basically never use LLM's and I am curious what uses others have found for it. From what I have seen, it is mostly used by students as a better search engine
I never understand when people preach about wealth inequality. The GDP per capita of the world is about $12k. In a perfectly equal world, that would mean everyone makes about that in a year. Seeing people on social media whining about wealth inequality while living in some of the most prosperous countries in the world is kindoff laughable.
You have to remember economics is a model and not exactly how reality works, there are many examples where you will find the supply demand curves arent linear and there are also other things to take into account. Companies can artificially move the demand curves, for example the ad companies can change the quality requirements of what ads they allow, creating more demand. These calculations are best done with real numbers and experiments, kinda like A/B testing and I would guess that the ad companies have such infrastructure
In economics there is a concept, profit maximization, where it is determined at which prices the products will, well maximize profits, by taking into account marginal changes in supply and demand. I would be very surprised if the big ad companies didnt have a few economists do the calculations.
The answer to your question requires a lot of math but in my opinion, thinking about derivatives and integrals in terms of signal responses is not at all intuitive since your have to first interpret the signal in terms of its fourier transform (so a sum of different magnitude and frequency sinusoids) and then you have to think of the operations as phase shifts that are only applied to a certain set of frequencies (cosines and sines are 90 degrees out of phase and are the derivates and ontegrals of eachother). The integrator and differentiator will apply the phase shift to different sets of frequencies. What complicates things are that the magnitudes are also changed based on the frequency of the sinusoid. I think the person you are replying to happened to learn this stuff before actually doing calculus and to him it seemed intuitive. If you would like to learn more, any control systems textbook will be able to do the work a lot more justice than I can.
> The world's knowledge is literally at people's fingertips now. Almost any creative skill someone has can be leveraged to make money.
There are two ways to read this sentence. One optimistic, people can monitize their skills! The other pessimistic, anyone with the same skills as me can easily compete with me. Thats why it seems that skills that are highly specialized are rewarded most these days. And the average joe doesn't have highly specialized skills, otherwise they wouldn't be average. And if prices are a race to the bottom through vigorous competition, you will find that the largest capital owners will be the biggest winners, since they already have a leg up.
I think the real reason startups are using blub is something else entirely, tooling. The reason lisp was cool in the early days were because it allows you to easily build abstractions to improve productivity, but these days any language comes with a decent web framework. You also get fancy IDE's and language servers and SDK's from your cloud provider. The productivity a large ecosystem gives you IMO is much larger than what a language can provide.
I was also stuck at like 50wpm and I knew it was because of using the wrong fingers for the wrong keys. Someone recommended typing.com's complete beginner lesson where they literally just walk you through which fingers to use with which keys and after completing that and 2 days of practise my speed jumped by 10wpm. Highly recommend.
This makes me think that during wars like those, there isn't a difference between soldiers and civilians. Whats the difference between a conscript and a factory worker if neither wanted to be part of the war.
I hope the time spent was worth learning something new :). I think having new languages have access to the dom can have huge benefits to end users but as you said, the initial indicators aren't looking good. It seems that there isn't a general consensus on how the web should be handled as a target platform. There is a talk from Alan Kay[1]
where he says the web should've been like an operating system kernel from the start (if you want the juicy part it is at 23:45). The fact that both the inital users of this tech, after unlocking these new abilities, opted to use it to increase performance for canvas, instead of trying to create real web experiences leads me to think that those developers share his viewpoint.
The throughput these gpu's have make the price pretty competitive, but I think AMD is working on a APU in their instinct lineup. That could be pretty competitive since Nvidia is overcharging for memory and you could just use sticks instead
This doesn't help. Even if you were the guy that read all policies or whatever a candidate pushes, the vast majority if people are still just gonna vote with their emotions.
> The money they save from buying components from Intel is sunk into development of the processors
That doesn't sound right. The m series chips are literally copy pasted from their a series and they operate at a scale where they probably get nice economies of scale. I bet they increased their margins a substancial amount.
The problem AI search has is monetization, openAI can't run gpu server farms to serve 100M customers for free forever. This was a problem that plagued early google as well, sergey and larry were against using ads for monetization, but in the end that i what drove the business to profitability
That is the advantage of modular devices. If you want something, you can literally make it yourself and slot it into the system. If you fall into the camp of just wanting to buy something that works perfectly out of the box, can you really claim you fall into the camp of the 'people who get excited at the phrase "modular laptop"'?
You realize that these language models are like 100's of GBs in size and consumes 10's of GB's of memory. Last time I checked, apple still ships their products with less than the market average in both of these specs. If you want a local running LLM on an iphone, get ready to sell a kidney.
