jlnho··on Teens inundated with phone prompts day and night, research finds
Yeah I get it, I just don't think your behavoior was rude, though. In my eyes, you were being rather polite.
jlnho··on Berry is a ultra-lightweight dynamically typed embedded scripting language
1) If you use Berry, you won't have to write JavaScript
jlnho··on Inflated rents, high interest and lack of supply create European housing crisis
What are some good companies to work for while living in the EU? I am a SWE with 10+ years of experience and I have a US and EU passport.
jlnho··on Teens inundated with phone prompts day and night, research finds
"If you're polite, nobody cares."

But what's the point if nobody cares?

Mainly because you won't have to write as much glue code.

jlnho··on JDK 21 Release Notes
The world "primarily" is important here. Sure, you _can_ use Java for embedded and even real-time stuff. Some games are written in Java, etc. But no one would say that Java is the primary language of choice in such domains.
jlnho··on JDK 21 Release Notes
Not yet, I believe they currently support everything (or nearly everything) up to Java 11.
jlnho··on JDK 21 Release Notes
Enterprise ETL/CRUD stuff and (some) native Android applications.
jlnho··on Earth had hottest 3-months on record; unprecedented sea temps & extreme weather

Can you hear that? It's the sound of a distant crypto-bro stampede coming your way!
jlnho··on Successful room temperature ambient-pressure magnetic levitation of LK-99
Makes operations way more sanitary. Many people used to die post operation due to infections.
jlnho··on TypeChat
Ideally you would jutst click the "talk to a human" button, but what do I know?
jlnho··on TypeChat
It's because not everyone can be as gifted as you.

I think the (arguably very prototypical) implementation is not what's interesting here. It's the concept itself. Natural language may soon become the default interface for most of the computing people do on a day to day basis, and tools like these will make it easier to create new applications in this space.

jlnho··on How to be a consultant, a freelancer, or an independent contractor (2009)
Simple, you neglect your family!
jlnho··on Ask HN: What do you put in a “in case of death” file?
It's okay to be egoistic.
jlnho··on Pfeilstorch
Depends. Some people are heavily traumatized, e.g. from childhood abuse. The title provides almost no indication as to what the content might be (OK, maybe a little, but only if you speak German), so I think it's fair to warn others for whom this kind of stuff can be a problem. I agree with your sentiment for "regular people", though.
jlnho··on Passkeys: The beginning of the end of the password
I enabled passkey and literally nothing changed. Signed out and back in again several times.
jlnho··on Deploying key transparency at WhatsApp
no
jlnho··on Deploying key transparency at WhatsApp
Genuinely curious: how do I know Whatsapp isn't keeping a copy of my private key somewhere?
jlnho··on AI-enhanced development makes me more ambitious with my projects
These were the very early YouTube days :^) I'm turning 32 this year, started coding 19 years ago...
jlnho··on AI-enhanced development makes me more ambitious with my projects
OT: Are you _the_ Jimmy Ruska (jimmyrcom on YouTube)? If so, thanks for your videos. I remember watching those as a teen, they were super inspiring and solidified my decision to pursue a career in IT.
