It was a YC startup, but happened at the startup they did before they did YC (a completely different startup).

I think it is clear that she's writing about female founders in this batch and not YC partners.

She neglected to include the co-founders of Plangrid (Tracy Young) and Medmonk (Somaira Punjwani). They, too, have fascinating backgrounds. (Since presentations were only 2.5 minutes, it was easy to miss some if you had to leave the room.)

As he wrote this, PG asked me if I remembered the chronology of certain things and it was very hard. So much is blurred together in my mind. But I remember the night we decided to start YC and this photo.

It wasn't just happiness that I was quitting my job. I was also so excited about this idea and the opportunity to work on something that could make a difference in the world.

Actually, we once accepted a group wearing suits. It was for the very first summer batch in 2005. We told them to ditch the suits for Demo Day.

Wow. It seems like so long ago yet I remember every moment of these photos. Especially the one taken the night we decided to start YC (we actually didn't come up with the name till later on). I think that was a tear of joy/excitement in my eye.

It's funny, I wrote an essay (that I haven't published yet) over the weekend about being a female founder. It has some of the same sentiments as Amanda's post.

It was surprising how little of my advice seemed very specific to being a female.

I love Picwing! In fact, I was just uploading my latest installment of photos when I noticed this article came out. This is the only way my grandmother gets to see photos of her great grandson. I also have Picwing set to mail me the photos, so I actually have prints to frame or put in a baby album. Otherwise, it just wouldn't happen.
