jkreeftmeijer··on Method chaining and lazy evaluation in Ruby
Thanks! I totally agree RSpec's a good library to dive into too. To understand how it works, I wrote Raptor (https://github.com/jeffkreeftmeijer/raptor) a while back. I might write about that too, sometime. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Vim is hard, I just want to click around
I actually used PeepOpen a lot when I was still on TextMate, but I totally forgot about it after using Command-T for a while. I'll check it out again if I run into any issues. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Vim is hard, I just want to click around
If you want the "old" MacVim fullscreen mode back (which supports multiple monitor full screen), just throw this into your terminal:

    defaults write org.vim.MacVim MMNativeFullScreen 0
jkreeftmeijer··on Vim is hard, I just want to click around
I know, I've used it for a while, but somehow it just didn't feel right, if you know what I mean. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Vim is hard, I just want to click around
That's exactly why I tried again. The drawer is just a way not to go completely mad when I'm stuck trying to open files "the fast way" and I think these tools make it easier for people to get the hang of it. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on We all love RVM!
hug!

Thanks for your awesome work, Wayne. :)

jkreeftmeijer··on The pain of JSON API testing
Good idea, Daniel. Hashr is a tip too: https://github.com/svenfuchs/hashr :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Announcing the winners for the "RSpec formatters" contest
Here's a direct link to the contest page: http://codebrawl.com/contests/rspec-formatters :)
jkreeftmeijer··on “Let's settle this in a Ruby programming contest”
I know the code snippet doesn't actually work, but I used it because it looks pretty cool. `if ready? && set? then fight!` is the first Ruby snippet one that I really like. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Introducing Tapir: Simple search for static sites
Yes, it can handle atom feeds too. If you have a feed Tapir can't read, let me know and I'll look into it. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Introducing Tapir: Simple search for static sites
We're definitely looking into this and hope to find a clean solution soon. We started by indexing RSS since it was what we needed and since it was _way_ simpler to implement for a first version. Stay tuned! :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Introducing Tapir: Simple search for static sites
That would be the simpler approach, but Google wants you to put their logo on your results page and limits you to 100 requests per day, unless you get a paid plan. (http://www.google.com/cse/docs/tos.html)

If you're fine with that, Google Custom Search is a good option. If you're not, maybe Tapir can help. :)

jkreeftmeijer··on Comparing images in pure Ruby (and how Github's image diff works)
You're right, I wanted to keep this one short and simple. I have been thinking about writing an article about calculating image similarity, instead of just finding differences between two versions. Stay tuned! :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Comparing images in pure Ruby (and how Github's image diff works)
Just looking for the code? Here you go:

jkreeftmeijer··on Pure Ruby colored blob detection
The point of the article was to detect the biggest red blob, find out where it is positioned and how big it is.

Shape detection is an interesting subject too, maybe I'll write about that in the future. :)

jkreeftmeijer··on Testing code that's testing itself
That would be a cool solution too, but Bundler _really_ doesn't like it when you try to load multiple libraries with the same name so I'm not sure if this'll work. I will give it a shot soon, though. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Websockets are awesome (you can see everyone's cursor)! Please donate yours
The problem wasn't that you're not the first to build it, but that there was a complete guide to build something like this published somewhere, you definitely knew it existed and people thought you used it and didn't credit the author. Since that's not the case: awesome work, your implementation looks great. Have fun at Valve. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Websockets are awesome (you can see everyone's cursor)! Please donate yours
This is a really nice implementation, but here's how I did it a couple of months ago (with an explanation on how to do it yourself): http://jeffkreeftmeijer.com/2010/experimenting-with-node-js ;)
jkreeftmeijer··on Let's not add_bundler_dependencies anymore
Just to make sure we're all on the same page, I'm not complaining about Bunder and this is not an open letter to Yehuda or something (he's actually advising against using add_bundler_dependencies: http://twitter.com/wycats/status/25423837210).

I'm simply giving my opinion and I don't like how add_bundler_dependencies worked. Since there's a -- in my opinion -- better way to solve the same thing, I'm trying to urge others to stop using it. Not criticizing Bunder.

In the end of the article I ask how everyone feels about adding a deprecation warning and I specifically call out to Yehuda and Carl, because I'm interested in their opinions about it.

Thanks for your comment,

"This Guy"

jkreeftmeijer··on Why aren't you using git-flow?
Running `git flow init` in an existing repository will ask you which branches you want to use as master- and development branches. So, yes. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Experimenting with Node.js
Please let me know when you finish it. I would love to see your code. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Experimenting with Node.js
Hi, author here. While building this thing, the Node server had the tendency to drop out. I'm monitoring it with God (http://god.rubyforge.org/) now, so it restarts whenever anything goes wrong.

I'm genuinely impressed by how it's holding out now. :)

jkreeftmeijer··on Experimenting with Node.js
There's a "disable" button in the yellow box. That'll make them go away completely. :)
jkreeftmeijer··on Abandoned open source projects
What browser/OS are you using? Can you send me a screenshot of the problem? That'd make it easier to fix it. :)
