jitendra_··on Poll: Do you think HN should go dark in protest of SOPA?
Agree with that. Besides featuring the list of sites gone black in protest, HN could also display pointers to effects of SOPA (for non-regular HN visitors), contact info for Congress representatives.
jitendra_··on Reddit to go dark on Jan 18 to protest SOPA
That would the most plausible approach Google, Facebook, Twitter and other major sites could take if they were to black out. However, such blackout were to happen, should be restricted to US only. And, Google probably would not want to black out Google Apps. I guess that would infuriate a lot of paying customers.
jitendra_··on Ask HN: Is there a repository of failed startups (re-usable startups idea)?
Launched in 2005, deadpooled on August 9, 1973 :O
jitendra_··on Realtime visualization of Wikipedia edit streams
I don't think, as a submitter of the link, I can now edit the link. If it is possible, please someone let me know. I would be happy to oblige.
jitendra_··on Realtime visualization of Wikipedia edit streams
The stream consists of edits only in major languages on Wikipedia. It doesn't include all the languages in which Wikipedia exists. If such edits are also included, imagine the rate at which new knowledge is being created.

jitendra_··on Programming Question: When X != X?
In R programming, you wouldn't get a TRUE or FALSE if you perform X != X when X is NA (Not Applicable). The result would be NA itself as it can't be determined.

You will have to use is.na(X) to find is X is NA.

So you don't just handle TRUE and FALSE cases but take NA into consideration as well.

jitendra_··on Ask HN: What would you like to see in Ubuntu 11.10, Oneiric Ocelot?
I have been using Ubuntu for 3-4 years now and have been using it for everything from day-to-day stuffs to development. I am quite happy to see how Ubuntu has matured during this time frame.

But, I wish some improvement is done on improving hibernate. It takes ages to hibernate and system sometimes freezes. Moreover, my experience with battery life on Ubuntu vs Windows suggests Ubuntu manages power poorly.

I haven't used Unity yet but look forward to trying soon.
