I've had people try to tell me "all cops are bastards" actually means we need to do a better job policing the police, with a straight face.

Poorly chosen slogans seem like they really hurt the movement. But maybe the ACAB crowd truly does think all cops are bastards.

I feel like the number of "I agree with everything except..." posts on this thread is an indication of what a great article this is.

Practical, real world, and takes enough of a stand to wake up the pedants.

Ah, well that makes me feel a bit better as I've only picked it up this year. Good to know it gets easier with time!

As someone who has struggled learning Rust, it's incredible to me you were able to do this so quickly. Had you spent much time prior with Rust?
