jgoldshlag··on Google to pay SpaceX $920M a month for compute capacity at xAI data centers
It is in fact very hard, and LEO is not "solar orbit". You want your datacenters in sunlight 100% of the time, to not need heavy batteries, which is possible, but cooling is in fact very hard
jgoldshlag··on 221 Cannon is Not For Sale
The point is that nearly all of the people doing this don't even live in the country where the land is being sold from. A simple sign would probably be quite effective
jgoldshlag··on Severe performance penalty found in VSCode rendering loop
This seems like a nonsense issue. Sorting 50 things takes 1-2 ms? What sort of potato was that timed on.
jgoldshlag··on Lifestance: A mental health rollup headed for a breakdown
Lifestance bought up the practice I was going to a couple years ago, and I have continued to see the same people. Haven't heard any complaints from them, will have to ask at my next appointment I guess
jgoldshlag··on Ford EV Customers to Gain Access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers
Right now, it is your Tesla account. I assume the Ford Pay stuff in there explains how other manufacturers will do it
jgoldshlag··on I Accidentally Deleted 7TB of Videos Before Going to Production
If there is an rm executable in the current directory, and also one later in your PATH, the second run might use a different rm that could do whatever it wants to
jgoldshlag··on AEG combi microwave unusable after update: device thinks it is a steam oven
This. When my Cuisinart food processor bowl broke for the 2nd time, I went and got a RobotCoupe professional model. The cheese grater attachment I got for it says that you shouldn't run it for longer than 4 hours! at a time. Once you start going commercial, you will not look back. Pay more (if you buy new), work forever and if they do break, there are people/places you can get them serviced.
jgoldshlag··on I think I know why you can't hire engineers right now
Honestly, stop with the E*on and whatnot. It just makes the article annoying to read. He doesn't care about any possible SEO "juice" you think that your blog post would give him, and it just makes the thing look unprofessional, IMHO
jgoldshlag··on Gas tanker hit by super-yacht sinks off New Providence
Everyone stays to the right
jgoldshlag··on DeFi and the “digital asset” felony hidden in the infrastructure bill
DeFi also includes the various crypto-adjacent scams, can't leave those out!
jgoldshlag··on 81 of the Top 100 Public Companies are using blockchain technology
Not true, surely many of them are throwing money away on "blockchain technology", which cuts into their massive profits!
jgoldshlag··on Razer bug lets you become a Windows 10 admin by plugging in a mouse
Not really, the windows file browser also lets you create and move files and directories. I guess you could ask to go down the route of not allowing that, but directory creation for one is super common.
jgoldshlag··on Star Citizen Progress Tracker v1.0
Look at the times on some of that stuff too. 5 weeks for one dev to make a tool to close old JIRA tickets? WTF?
jgoldshlag··on DOMPurify, Security in the DOM, and Why We Really Need Both [pdf]
DOMPurify is a great library, BTW. Super small, super safe by default, no security holes found in months/years
