jerryalex··on Airbnb introduces new search tools for business travelers
I'm the host of a house on AirBnB. At that location, we never get business travelers.

In fact, most people are large families or friends coming down for the weekend. They want to be in one area together instead of separated apart like one may be at a hotel. This would be one of the advantages of an AirBnB.

However, I don't see business travelers using this service all that often. Perhaps AirBnB will begin offering subsidized listings to entice more companies to opt for their listings.

jerryalex··on Tell HN: Hackerrank is the worst way to recruit
Good points.

Do you think the current interviewing system could be improved in any way?

jerryalex··on How I finally won my name from domain resellers after nine years of waiting
Thank you! I don't remember which registrar I used back then, but I wish I had used something like Gandi. I'm using Google domains now

It was caught by dropcatch actually. I didn't bid in the auction though. Eventually it was released.
jerryalex··on Living Near Trees, Not Just Green Space, Improves Wellbeing
Thanks, Raleigh is definitely in my top 10. I'm currently living in Texas so my nature options are pretty limited. I do appreciate not having an income tax though.

What are some great cities with surrounding nature for software engineers?

I was looking at Atlanta, GA which I heard has the most trees for a city.

According to Wikipedia, it has 47.9% tree coverage

jerryalex··on Ask HN: Passive Income Suggestions?
A couple of suggestions:

- Affiliate websites. These are basically content websites with built in affiliate links. You try to rank your content for certain keywords in search results

- Real estate. I've been a real estate investor since 2008 and I can say that it's probably the most well known way of building passive income. Simply put, you buy a house, rent it out and continue the process. However, it's a long term game because of the amount of starting capital required to buy. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have much money to start because of the repairs and maintenance you will be responsible for as tenants continue renting.

I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any questions.
