jernejzen··on Fintech dystopia
As someone working with African companies (legitimate businesses, mid-sized transactions), the key use case is payments in stablecoins—their banking infrastructure doesn’t allow for reliable and consistent foreign remittances. These deals would be practically impossible without stablecoins.

(And to be clear, I’m someone who has never been particularly enthusiastic about crypto or blockchain.)

jernejzen··on The EU Commission accepts high error rates when checking chats
Right, as the most communication is not used for illegal activities...
jernejzen··on The EU Commission accepts high error rates when checking chats
It kinda gets me into the stance: every member of EU parliament and EU commission should make their bank accounts fully transparent so populi can check whether they are committing some act of corruption.
jernejzen··on Analyzing iMessage with SQL
Not really, in Europe you have unlimited sms’ from like forever. Think people went to different platforms because communication was less clumsy and it was easier to do it also with Android friends. So all in one
jernejzen··on I paid for a perpetual license of TeamViewer. Stop calling and emailing me

Hello world from the first world
jernejzen··on Vivaldi Browser 5.0
So guess that if you want extensions you need to go through Google machinery.. and your back to their telemetry empire?
jernejzen··on Ok ProtonMail, this is seriously Bad
2FA is risky for me as I travel internationally a lot and non-working number can be a real hassle (it happened already, I was locked out of services because of that). Verificators can be also tricky if you loose phone...

Honestly, having 2 accounts on PM should not be an issue (they prohibit mass creation of free accounts, but a bit unclear where is the line)

So good ole email makes the most sense.

Thanks, PM replied with some demands, so let me see..

But it sucks, yeah.

jernejzen··on MasterCard to open up network to cryptocurrencies
You mean stable currency that is supported by 24$ trillion of national debt?
jernejzen··on IPFS Support in Brave
Thanks for this clarification. I use Brave less because I am actually afraid to install extensions, because addition phoning to Google. Or how does Brave handle that?
jernejzen··on Analyzing the Design of Unusual Japanese Butter Tableware
Unrelated to article. But in many countries in Europe, even if you live in cities, its fairly easy to find fresh milk from farmers. From there on butter is easy to make by yourself.
jernejzen··on Mozilla Lifeboat
Man, I’d really love to see Matrix to become a standard. I’d love to use it as a major goto chat/communication tool but i get frustrated with UX. Pls pls, don’t screw it.

jernejzen··on Sweden’s central bank says it has begun testing an e-krona
Not really. Ever heard Monero or Zcash fe?
jernejzen··on Smart TVs like Samsung, LG and Roku are tracking everything
Earlier this year my company pitched anonymization solution for smart TV and smart home appliances to LG and Samsung representatives in Korea.

Their reaction to a proposal was, to put it kindly, terrifying and highly defensive. They said they are doing nothing wrong, no data has been leaked snd that there is no future for our solution, sensing huge discomfort.

Quite evident they have zero interest to gamble status quo on current situation.

jernejzen··on A blockchain is a specific set of choices suitable for a narrow set of use-cases
Here's my case. I have problems trusting any centralised cloud service out there that is significant for my privacy. I have problems with Pocket, because it knows what I read.

If data would be stored on the decentralized nodes and accessible over the smart contracts, my zen would be way closer.

jernejzen··on Italian Anti-Corruption Authority Adopts Onion Services
Pretty bold claim about !%.

Do you by any chance have any refs or links at hand explaining the topic more into depth. There are quite a lot on Tor www but covering more common use.

jernejzen··on Skype Vanishes from App Stores in China, Including Apple’s
While I agree with your point and distributed App Stores sound like a proper way for users to be independent from various risks. But what makes me paranoid is that decentralised stores would be another source of malware, where even Google as a central entity fails miserably.
jernejzen··on How Firefox Got Fast Again
It's pretty fun. I put FF in a high privacy mode, now Pocket login doesn't work anymore ;)
jernejzen··on WikiLeaks: CIA source code leak shows agency impersonating Kaspersky
Right. But this is just some news post and a claim but nothing that would say they are biased or even a tool in hands of somebody.
jernejzen··on WikiLeaks: CIA source code leak shows agency impersonating Kaspersky
Any proof for that claim?
jernejzen··on Nothing to Hide – a documentary about surveillance and you [video]
I am pretty sure that good ole Zbig is more of a part of the problem than the solution ;)
jernejzen··on IT is the cause of rising income and wealth inequality since the 1970s [pdf]

jernejzen··on Turn Off Your Push Notifications. All of Them
Ok, this article covers annoyance problem of push notifications. What about from the privacy point? Does the app provider know more about you have them turned on.
jernejzen··on Coin Dance – Bitcoin Cash Hard Fork
What does that mean for "normal" user? Say, one that buys some things online and cares a bit about investment?
jernejzen··on Where’s all my CPU and memory gone? The answer: Slack
Ditto.. but my subjective feeling is that it's getting laggier there also. I mean, it was kinda lightweight back in the days but it's getting less and less responsive.
jernejzen··on Amazon profit slumps 77 percent as costs surge, shares fall
I am too lazy to check the details, but this info goes directly opposite to Bezos overtaking Gates as the richest dude on the world.
jernejzen··on Twitter didn't add any new users last quarter, and the stock is diving
I was never a heavy Twitter user and I am more of a listener than active bird. But I wouldn't like this service to go away. Posting, access to all the posts and it's simplicity makes me feel that it's really a tool in hands of freedom of information and that it serves to the people (i know it's public company, but I can dream a bit).
