> Don't wish for things you don't have

But we are bombarded with commercials every day, that want's us to wish for things we don't have. It is a foundation of our society.

Also rich people have more power than poor, even in democracies. And if there is too wide a gap between people in a society, they have fewer common goals.

jensgk··on How NYU’s Emergency Room Favors the Rich
If that is how it is, then be public about it. Don't pretend to treat everyone equally. Pretending otherwise is the most despicable issue regarding this.
jensgk··on Apple to allow outside app stores in overhaul spurred by EU laws
Phones are different from computers, it is a different market with different requirements. Apple app store is much more succesful than Android “app store”. That is the evidens for you.
jensgk··on Apple to allow outside app stores in overhaul spurred by EU laws
Most people dont like too many choices. And sideloading just might destroy the experience for the majority, because many big players could choose to have their own store.
jensgk··on Apple to allow outside app stores in overhaul spurred by EU laws
But the device consists of the hardware, the os and the app store. The is no "hardware" in the Apple universe. And that is good. If you don't like it that way, buy a Nokia.
jensgk··on Apple to allow outside app stores in overhaul spurred by EU laws
Why not? It is our own choice. If you do not like it, buy a Nokia.

If Netflix decides to open their own store, and Spotify will open another, etc. it will be much more inconvenient for me.
jensgk··on Apple to allow outside app stores in overhaul spurred by EU laws
I like the current Apple model very much. I do not need to think safety or security when I buy apps from Apple App store. Also I like that all apps including Spotify, Netflix, and all other big apps are available from the same place. Apps are updated automatically, and many of my subscriptions are handled in the same place. For us users these are good features, that are worth the small premium.

For sure, I missed that.
jensgk··on “You don't have a voltmeter. Do you have a potato?”
Well, only if chlorine is added to the water. It should also emit oxygen.

Yeah, every buying or support decision you make is (in the end) political. Elon Musk uses his money to support his political agenda. If you are on Twitter or buy a Tesla you support Elon Musk financially and therefore also his political agenda. So if you do not support his views, get out. I did. It is as simple as that!

jensgk··on What's SAP, and why's it worth $163B? (2020)
Yes, that is also my understanding. SAP implements "best practice" solutions, and companies adapt to SAP to get the advantages af that.
jensgk··on Anti-trans stalkers at Kiwi Farms are chasing one victim around the world
Doing on-line investigation is ok, but actively chasing her irl like what is described in the article is not ok. If she did anything illegal let the authorities take care of it.

From what you describe, I am concerned about the level of vigilantism spreading out of Kiwi Farms. The site should be closed.
