jeanpralo··on SMS traffic pumping fraud
There are a few ways one can benefit from AIT / SMS Pump:

- Exclusivity: This is where an exclusivity deal is signed with a party for a specific route. But when those parties are engaging themselves with a minimum traffic volume and fail to meet their objectives, they tend to turn to AIT to achieve their objectives.

- Range Leasing: Here we have a rogue party leasing a number range and getting a revenue share of the traffic going through that range. MNO could be aware or not of the scheme.

- Range Hosting: Same as above but hosted on MNO. MNO could be aware or not of the scheme.

- CR Tampering: More complex scheme where a party would send lots of OTP to dead numbers in the hope to drop CR and DR. This might lead to the rogue party getting that traffic afterwards if the customer is looking at switching provider.

what is the difference with docker-compose here ?
jeanpralo··on Ask HN: Is it me or AI is the new Cloud?
Very interesting. But often it seems that AI is an alias for image or voice recognition, would love to see more of those AI-as-a-service for different use cases. Or more tutorial on some behaviour patterns for example :)
jeanpralo··on Ask HN: Why is the “de-facto” open source Git repo in the world not open source?
Well gitlab does have paying customers and their product is mostly open source appart from the EE.
jeanpralo··on Systemd v230 kills background processes after user logs out, breaks screen, tmux
Thats is indeed pretty cool, the whole question is more under the way decisions are beeing taken regardless of what the community says.

But I don't really see what this sort of feature has to do in an init process. I really dislike the idea of having one project handling everything on a box .... The day you have a security issue in systemd we are all fu*.

But yeah there are some real good things in systemd, maybe they should just be taken out of it and spin up in a new project ;)

I still can't find a good reasons why you should use systemd, this things grows out of control and is way out of the initial scope.

Upstart was a reasonable replacement for system V I reckon, ...
