jdc2172··on Ask HN: What is the state of C++ vs. Rust?
Hope I don't get burned for saying it, but lack of real IDE support in rust is pretty annoying. With tools like racer you can still be productive, but things like rename refactoring or searching for uses of functions are things I miss most from languages like Java or go, which have good support.

There's been some talk for a long time of a rust oracle for code indexing (to support ide use), but there hasn't been much progress (or interest?).

"There's simply no way to tell the compiler to not drop a variable automatically when it goes out of scope."

Perhaps std::mem::forget

Micro USB isn't already a de facto standard?

the improvements to the plguin system sound awesome - hopefully it remove the need to do virtually anything in vimscript...

if this ever gets off the ground there should be a complete spec sheet for the plugin commands so anyone can write their own vim core that interfaces with other guis and plugins designed for the original vim
jdc2172··on A Primer on Hybrid Apps for iOS
Why do they link to a javascript benchmark that only features differences between ios safari versions? Javascript had terribly performance in ios 4 - if they did basically anything it would be much faster. Android's chrome has a much faster javascript engine.

I read on BBC that flame used state of the art encryption for its code based on a paper published in 2008. Apparently, they even came up with their own variant of the encryption scheme
