I have about 5 years of professional experience, mostly in web application space as a front-end dev or varying level of SWE. I've also been a CTO/Co-Founder of a document-signing on video company. I tinker with hardware too, would like to go that route. I do not have a degree. I started to learn how to code in 2013 back in the LAMP days.
Oh yeah as far as what I've been doing the last 9 months, been working labor. I was making hardware projects but lately just working labor all the time.
Most recently I have worked on an iPhone app paired to a watch for a client.
Going back to the basics... a ToDo app

I use systemd to run main.py let me time it real quick.
Edit: I was off, it's 40 seconds when the intro animation starts playing.
This is why the camera spends most of its time in the home screen state until you're ready to take a photo which is when the live pass through plays or while recording a video (allows you to change focus/aperture while filming). That also conserves power since it has the highest current draw while recording/showing a live preview.

Trying to find this one where a guy made a sensor stack from scratch it wasn't great like 1 MP but still amazing
This one open source USB 3 camera damn!

I'm not affiliated with CinePi I'm just amazed what you can do when you know what you're doing ha (eg. color grading)
Uses an FPGA lol damn that's hardcore

These are my hardware/robotic/vision/navigation related projects. They are pretty noobish but fun to work on.
Unfortunately lately I haven't had as much time as I'd like to work on this stuff.
If anyone is interested in looking as far as providing architecture/code review type thoughts, I'd be open to them.

mid-level full stack developer, 4-5 years experience
I've primarily worked in web-related tech, I'm working on trying to get into hardware overtime (currently RPi/Arduino). I have different projects on my github/hackaday.
Note: my website above was built 7 years ago
The droning voice of AWS Polly is sure to wake anyone up.
A feature I thought about is putting the generated files elsewhere like cloud where you can play them to your wireless earbuds.
Anyway regarding summary... I looked at rapid api before they have a sumarizer on there, can plug it into polly. It seemed decent but I wanted my own summary based on my own reading process... but never got around to it.

I have an actual app too that's also a note taking app (use it everyday) basic React/Electron thing with Express backend
my goal is centralizing my own info
Anyway I'll look around/write what I end up doing if I can still respond to this thread then.
Probably not going to work honestly about the outdoor light (need more solar cells). The voltage charging the battery has to be higher than the voltage of the battery. Also have to look at the current being drawn by each piece, when the radio goes on that causes a surge in current draw too. For the Pi Zero (non-W) something like 5V * 70-200mA say current so up to 1W needed * duration. The batteries could do that but the solar cell can't keep it topped off. Also yeah you need the charge controller, some diode to make sure voltage doesn't go back to the solar cells from the batteries... lead acid battery is "safer" to work with but BMS chips for lipos are pretty inexpensive. Need a voltage regulator to take your batteries and drop it down/keep it at 5V to keep the Pi happy.
There's probably way easier approaches to do this with regard to pre-made parts but yeah. I guess depends how much you want to learn/do yourself. I remember the first time I soldered a 2x16 LCD display there were micro shorts and it was smoking.
What I like about the capacitor idea and something low power like an ESP01 is it just accepts what the solar cells put in and that's it of course I still use a voltage regulator to put 3.3V to the ESP. Doesn't last as long as a battery but it's not as complex.
Anyway this guy made a solar-powered rc plane/charging it in midair pretty cool.
I was just looking at small things like those garden night lights you can stake into the ground, has a solar cell on it.
ESP01 modded has deep sleep capability so it would wake up, send an http request out, and then go back to sleep.
It's funny I have a database with about 9.5 million rows so far of milliwatt power generated recordings from the anemometer (it records every second).
