jck··on To Remember, the Brain Must Actively Forget
Benzos have anxiolytic effects. I think OPs premise is a drug that has no psychoactive effects (apart from the no long term memory thing)
jck··on Qt for Python available at PyPi
This includes _everything_, including webengine(which bundles chromium). It's not ideal, but Pyinstaller prunes unused libraries, so Pyinstaller bundles shouldn't be too large.

jck··on Fidget Spinners: Why Being Interesting Can Do More for You Than Being Useful
I have ADHD. While the fidget spinner is fun, it is not really useful. It is too involved, doesn't have much tactile variety, distracting to the people around you.

I love the fidget cube though. (Got it from antsy labs)

jck··on Mosh v1.3 Released
Mosh is not a shower wrapper. They support ssh auth, but that's about it.

jck··on Open Source Needs FPGAs; FPGAs Need an On-Ramp
I'm one of the core devs of MyHDL(https://github.com/myhdl/myhdl). It does most of what you're describing and converts to both Verilog and VHDL.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

jck··on Surviving the New MacBook Pro
It blows my mind that it is not even an option to buy a computer built by another vendor.
jck··on A Good Vimrc (2014)
1) It's cumbersome, and you'll need to specially handle things like deleting files. I personally wouldn't be comfortable having a homebaked script rm stuff in my home directory.

2) By using copies instead of symlinks you'll need to run your script Everytime you make changes and be careful to edit only your clone instead of the target location.

jck··on Awesome window manager framework version 4.0 changes
That's the suckless philosophy. I think it's ridiculous.
jck··on Space Mono
I've been using Monaco for years. Something about it is very pleasing to me. However, I'm sort of bored with it and haven't been able to find a suitable replacement.
jck··on Python manylinux
Looks like arch users will need to install at least one package from the AUR(ncurses5). But apart from that, I'm pretty excited for this, it should make stuff like installing pyqt5 in a virtualenv really simple.
jck··on Ask HN: What new skills are you learning?
I would suggest using myhdl (www.myhdl.org), and then plugging the verilog/vhdl it generates into your vendor's tools.

IMHO, it's also unethical to get kids dependent on a proprietary editor.

jck··on Why Hardware Development Is Hard, Part 1: Verilog Is Weird
You might be interested in cocotb, which is a "coroutine based cosimulation testbench environment for testing VHDL/Verilog RTL using Python".

cocotb is developed in part by Solarflare communications.

jck··on Why Hardware Development Is Hard, Part 1: Verilog Is Weird
oops, I guess that comment insinuates that I'm the creator of MyHDL. The creator of MyHDL is actually Jan Decaluwe(Sigasi, Easics). I just implemented the interfaces feature and develop uhdl.

Rgen looks really interesting. I hope you do manage to get it opensourced so that I can play with it!

jck··on Why Hardware Development Is Hard, Part 1: Verilog Is Weird
Shameless promotion: MyHDL(Python library for hardware description) is well designed and feature rich. I recently pushed support for using class instances to group together signals/ports. So, class instances can be used as Interfaces. This is really cool since Verilog/VHDL don't support this feature natively but MyHDLs conversion creates synthesizable Verilog/VHDL. Although system verilog has Interfaces, I'm not sure if synthesis tools support it(Quartus doesn't)

Also, I'm currently working on uhdl, which simplifies a lot of things about using MyHDL such as CoSimulating with icarus/modelsim.
