Not trying to be a jerk - if you feel the jokes are somehow unique or offensive. Most people just don't see it that way though.
You said it was a flippant comment that was borderline sexist...How about just move on with your life? As a guy, if someone makes a comment that identifies themselves as a jerk I just think, "Hey, that person is a jerk & I prefer not to deal with them."
Harassment is another story but that's not what this is. Also, I wouldn't assume that the psychos making all of these threats represent the tech community. The story has spilled into a lot of media and the most extreme disturbed people don't represent "the community" just like a woman getting offended by a silly pun doesn't represent women in tech.
Making a sexual joke is not the same thing as making a sexist joke.
No, but she did compare herself to Joan of Arc and say that she stepped up when the future of women in tech was on the line. A tad bit dramatic.
That in this situation she's playing a victim when she's actually the one with the power. Granted, old tweet.
@adriarichards Black people CANNOT be racist against White people. Racism is a position of the oppressor who has the power - http://i.imgur.com/ou8JZVu.jpg
The biggest losers here are Playhaven & SendGrid. The dev who made the silly joke will get another job and Adria successfully raised her profile and will get more speaking gigs.
edit: just noticed the another commenter already pointed this out to you.
Maybe the employee should just find a job he likes better and not give a second thought to the auto parts job if he truly does hate it. In some cases, life is just too short to eat the shit.
Fast Spring, which did 44.5 million in rev in 2011, charges 5.9% plus $.95 or 8.9% flat per order (user chooses which). Granted, Fast Spring may be more of a total ecommerce solution, but the point isn't +2%. It's who is the end user and how much easier does this product make their life/business.
This is a weird situation. My guess is that the guy just gets a small thrill out of it or feels like he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't at least try. So, if the price is $4,800 for 1, what's it going to be for 5 or 10? Personally, I'd just politely tell him that you're already undercutting the competition. It's a fair price and best you can do for 1 unit.
For cash games, which most people are less familiar with, going all in is still generally based more in math than "commitment" or being a man. If the way you've played a hand gives you a certain range, you can estimate what bet sizes your opponent thinks he can profitably call. Beyond the psychology, going all in is just a means to make your opponent commit a math error, that long-term would be an unprofitable course of action.
