jblesage··on Show HN: Get unlimited small changes to your Shopify store for $99/month
Thanks! What price range would you expect for this type of service?

Noted for the bullet list, I agree with some images for that part it would be easier to digest.

jblesage··on Show HN: Get unlimited small changes to your Shopify store for $99/month
Hi HN, I founded ShopManager as a side-project after finding that a lot of my clients were asking for a service similar to this.

Happy to answer any questions you might have. Thanks!

jblesage··on Ask HN: How much traffic does a job board site need for paid listings?
Depends on your niche.

If you are catering to a very select, focused audience then you don't need volume, because the specificity is your selling point.

There is a lot more than traffic that companies look for in a job board. Since your site is based around educational content, try to find profitable, untapped markets related to this and focus on only those markets at the beginning.

You can be creative with this: for example, hedge funds routinely pay top dollar to find the best PhD students in math-related subjects, so maybe there is a way to bring both together.

jblesage··on Show HN: Artful for Mac
Love the app and gladly paid the full price. Only downside for me so far is the image quality -- most look ok, but many look bad with really low resolutions, even on my non-retina MBA.
jblesage··on Introducing Nvest
I have a hyphenated first name, and was told it was invalid. Replaced the hyphen with a space, was again told my first name was invalid.

Maybe worth looking into your broken name validation.

jblesage··on Meet Runscope
The site design/responsiveness is excellent.
jblesage··on Pull to refresh. For the web
If I pull down on Chrome on Nexus 4 and let it refresh, it causes a continual loop of refreshing the page until I scroll down again. Was able to reproduce it a few times.
jblesage··on Jetstrap for Bootstrap
This is very similar to Divshot, which was featured here on HN a few days ago.
jblesage··on Why Responsive Design Is Not Worth It
Ironically, that scrolling social media box on the side was covering some of the text while reading this on my galaxy s, leaving me wishing you had implemented some kind of responsive design.

jblesage··on Stripe Gallery
They offer the ability to receive payments from international customers, but opening an account requires a US bank account.
jblesage··on Ask HN: What is a good alternative to PayPal?
Go with Beanstream as the payment gateway, and either Chargify or Recurly for the recurring payments. I've personally had no problem with this combination on many projects, and all of my clients are canadian companies.

jblesage··on Quit my job as a Front End Engineer. What next?
1) Assuming you want to work for an existing startup, I would avoid generic job sites like Monster. Instead I would look into sites that focus on startups such as http://www.startuply.com/ and jobs offered by the Y Combinator set of companies: http://news.ycombinator.com/jobs. Do as much reading as possible into the type of role you want to provide and how willing you are to take a risk on a company which may or may not be successful.

2) If you are looking to create your own business, make sure you are getting in for the right reasons. Looking to make a quick buck with an overnight viral app is not a plan. Make sure you work on a plan for a business that provides legitimate value to the market, and try to think of how your particular skillset makes you the most qualified person to start that business.

jblesage··on Ask HN: $0.10/GB/Month for storage, unlimited free bandwidth. Interested?
That's a good question. You're right, the cost of bandwidth is not zero. The partnership allowed us to get a good price on a dedicated 1000mbps line with unlimited use as a fixed monthly cost. Because we aren't paying per GB of transfer, we can pass this savings along to the customer.

As Robert Zubrin has said, if there were an open invitation for volunteers to be the first explorers to Mars, they would be lined up coast to coast.

Good initiative, the website is easy to understand. Makes the process more convenient for those who, for any reason, aren't able to take the time to visit a store to make the purchase. The 30-day refund period and clearly stating there are no additional fees for this is a good idea.

I could be wrong, but here are few problems I can think of:

- A mattress is one of those important purchases which happen only once every 10 years (for most people). How will you make sure they remember you when its time to buy?

- After a quick look at the price range from a few major brick-and-mortar mattress stores, I found price differences to be minimal.

- Just like you wouldn't buy a used car without testing it first, most people would want to try out the mattress before purchasing.

Best of luck!
