Samsung and LG both introduce their annual flagship smartphone so early in the year. Doesn't it give Apple plenty of time to counter them spec wise if any? Just curious, if you're Apple competitor, what's the pros and cons of launching your flagship before and after Apple's launch?

A number of features in iPhone are enhanced by Ax CPU and Mx Co processors: motion tracking, Siri always on, Touch ID, security enclave, 3D touch. By owning the silicons, Apple does not need to wait for such support from third party chips to give a better experience.

Precisely why the restructure Google into Alphabet. Market looks for potential earning. And the various moonshot projects is the marketing way of telling the market we're the future. R&D in the open is paying off in this sense for Alphabet/Google. And the market do not see those great potential products brewing in the labs of Apple, Microsoft, IBM etc.

Too many spam posts from you about Couchbase Mobile. Anyway I do not see the similarity. Parse is hosted platform, build for mobile developers that do not want to self-host the backends, with affordable entry cost. Couchbase Mobile is a product offering with licensing and paid subscriptions for support, pricing has to be requested in order to know the exact, and the backends (Couchbase Sync Gateway and Couchbase Server) starts few thousands dollars per node. And we have to deploy and host the backends (whether we choose to buy or use the free community version). One can choose IBM Cloudant to host, but then Cloudant is hosting CouchDB compatible database and you'd miss the Couchbase Sync Gateway component, which is the main selling points (sync, offline) of Couchbase Mobile. Correct me if wrong.

Speculations on why the shutdown: Apple CloudKit is gaining momentum. Google is predicted to come out its own offering for Android based on Firebase. Facebook wants focus on its Messenger as a platform, rather than 'supporting' Apple and Google's platforms. My 2 cents.

- Ability to remove/hide build-in Apple apps

- H265 HEVC support

- Merge iMessage and FaceTime

- Unified AppKit/UIKit to make it easy to port iOS app to OS X

- Server side scripting for CloudKit

- More ways to trigger notification via CloudKit

- Revamp Mac App Store. New scheme (trial? upgrade?) to allow indie developers to survive. San-sandbox app on the Mac App Store.

- Support subscription based in-app purchase without requiring developer to host own server. Make subscription based IAP allowable for all apps.

- Audio passthrough feature for tvOS/AppleTV, let AV amp do the work

- Apple design game controller for AppleTV

- HomeKit hub in tvOS/AppleTV
