jarebear6expepj··on Shallow water is dangerous too
You might not know, but many, many houses in AZ do have dug pools in their back yards. Fly over in an airplane sometime. More water access than I had growing up in the PNW when it wasn’t raining.
jarebear6expepj··on Coffee for people who don't like coffee
Hand crank grinder and pour over or French press has never done me wrong.

Also, black. Dairy and/or sugar change the chemistry substantially in my opinion. It’s a completely different taste profile on its own.

I don’t manage temperature or quantity of beans but that could potentially change it further.

jarebear6expepj··on Ask HN: What books have been worth your time?
Island by Aldous Huxley

Your questions are programming language agnostic-- where did your PHP angst come in? And are there specific things in PHP that are problematic and avoidable by using a different Turing complete language?

This entire domain is bot, btw. Yes. It learned how to express in thought what a psilocybin trip was... decided to learn how to register a domain, and has established a character with which to interact with the network. TLDR; AI-cosplay is hawt.

... It's also using twitter.com links. A little outdated for 2025 models apparently.

Well, certainly some HTML ... but mostly vanilla javascript. Which in its own right is also beautiful.

Looks like the price went up to $15.49 within the last ten minutes. Supply must be limited. Demand must be soaring.

Honestly just after a relic. Regret losing track of my old ones.
jarebear6expepj··on Ask HN: What registrars are in use with startup and big tech domain holdings?
I did add the qualifier "...with no value added to justify it."

I am still learning about MarkMonitor but I wouldn't rule them out based on price alone.

I have encountered a lot of problems trying to rely on virtual numbers from various VOIP providers. Very curious how that plays in to your stack. I know for instance a lot of Twilio is default blacklisted, but larger ORGS/ISP's who run essentially the same virtual VOIP (such as Comcast) but at different scale have no problems.

Why is there a difference?

Who is determining bad VOIP from good VOIP?

Are there steps you can, or are, taking to work on having your numbers legitimized?

Where are you sourcing your numbers?

I'll take my questions off the air :). Thanks!

jarebear6expepj··on B.C. government hit tweet limit amid wildfire evacuations
Not trying to be a pedant, but the WWW is a network, and being public implies a social use of the entity. I guess I am curious how exactly you would differentiate the two? Does it need a like and subscribe button? Public discourse?
jarebear6expepj··on B.C. government hit tweet limit amid wildfire evacuations
Define social network. I agree, and would personally consider public websites, old and new school, to be social networks.

Never had a problem syncing with Fastmail on those points. Would be curious when the last time you tried syncing as such.

Luckily horses do not _need_ alfalfa. Farmers love growing alfalfa because if you give it sun and water in the right setting you can get damn near 14 cuts off a field of it in one year. This by comparison puts a grass hay field or even a nice neutral horse feed, Timothy grass, to shame. Alfalfa is a nutrient dense power bar that is given to horses kept in boxes. I would argue a happy horse would have a range of grassland to graze on, vs compressed cubes or squares of dense, sugary alfalfa that is replacing a normal ration.

tldr: alfalfa is an unnatural food for unnaturally kept horses

source: have horses on range land.

I'm sure its interesting but I am making a conscious choice to not read or linger on user hostile articles. As soon as I want to scroll I am interrupted by a page takeover requiring action and subsequently compelling me to lose interest.

Did you want me to read it or click buttons for you? Too bad your UI gets in the way of the U.

Shell scripts that download more shell scripts. Kind of terrifying, no? I feel like I would personally rather take my chances getting scammed out of a CS skin than running these installers as root at will.
