janwl··on Counter-Strike's player economy is in a freefall
Games of chance are absolutely moral and completely fine when played by adults who are not mentally incapacitated.
janwl··on Counter-Strike's player economy is in a freefall
Why exactly? Why are these games of chance moral only if the government gets a cut?
janwl··on The Muscular Compassion of "Paper Girl"
>The "I'm okay being miserable as long as you're more miserable" crowd has always had a strong showing in this country.

If the choices are "I am miserable whilst my enemies are happy" and "I am miserable whilst my enemies are even more miserable", I know what I would choose.

janwl··on ROG Xbox Ally runs better on Linux than Windows it ships with
Kernel-level anti cheats are not perfect, but they decrease the amount of cheaters to the point where they stop being “common” and become “extremely rare”. An imperfect solution is much better than no solution.

janwl··on Internet's biggest annoyance: Cookie laws should target browsers, not websites
This law was supposed to give me control of my data. If I have control of my data, why can't I use it to pay the owner of the website?
janwl··on Is Sora the beginning of the end for OpenAI?
I mean, it's entertainment content. It's like saying a movie is fake, they are actors playing roles. Of course. Who cares?
janwl··on Don't use AI to tell you how to vote in election, says Dutch watchdog
> I guess it depends on what you mean by "materials". It's quite common in US elections for politicians to make claims that are completely contrary to their actual actions. Even for objective facts, like I voted for X bill when they didn't.

So like everywhere else?

janwl··on Where are we on XChat security?
Because the product is X Chat. The author made a typo in the headline.

Or maybe it was on purpose - the only reason I clicked is that I thought this was about irc.

Usually these projects only contain a copy of the source code to build the binary. You still need the game assets like the levels and sounds to play the game.
janwl··on The White House is already one of the most blocked accounts on Bluesky
I thought that bluesky only showed you posts from people you follow so why go through the effort of blocking someone whose posts you’ll never see?
janwl··on Windows 11 25H2 October Update Bug Renders Recovery Environment Unusable
AI is bad and therefore everything that is bad was made using AI.
janwl··on GoFundMe CEO: economy is so bad his customers crowdfund to pay for groceries
He hopes for what benefits him. Would you rather see him lie and say he hopes people wouldn’t use his platform to pay for groceries?
janwl··on Jeep wrangler owners waiting for answers week after an update bricked their cars
For some reason BMW is missing a very good one.
janwl··on Desperate SF residents ask for help blocking autonomous cars from their street
Not very novel if you understand that these attacks would work just as well on human drivers (not to mention they are blatantly illegal)
janwl··on The Great Feminization
> The problem is that both sides of the equation are constructs of the mind

No, they are not. And when we take into account that they are not, the whole argument breaks down.

janwl··on 4Chan Lawyer publishes Ofcom correspondence
One man’s hate is another man’s love.
janwl··on When you opened a screen shot of a video in Paint, the video was playing in it
This unlocked some memories. I remember on my system the chroma colour not being green but some very dark shade of grey that was almost black but not really black… something like #010101
janwl··on Tor browser removing various Firefox AI features
Maybe the Firefox team should stop doing bad things if they don’t want people saying bad things about them.
