35 years later with the assistance of someone in his organization we were able to pin down the show and I now have it as an MP3.

"can receive" has a different meaning with encrypted ATSC 3.0 signals. My HD Homerun TV tuner happily displays ATSC 1.0 signals and also the single unencrypted ATSC 3.0 signal from PBS. The rest of them are infected with Widevine DRM and unwatchable on a network tuner. Obviously DVR functionality is disabled as well.

Public airwaves carrying TV channels that can only be viewed with an Internet connection to deliver a decryption key is one of the dumbest things I have ever encountered. It is a blatant privatization of a public resource, so naturally I expect the current administration's FCC to bless it despite lawsuits and public comments ahead of their final rulemaking.

I have had better results with Picaridin based repellents than with DEET. Picaridin does not have the same oily feel that leaves my skin crawling after repeated applications. It also seems to do a better job dissuading our local variety of horse flies which will bite you right through clothing.

The 486sx had a 16 bit external bus interface so it could work with 386 chipsets. The DX processors had a full 32 bit bus and correspondingly better throughput. The 486 never included an integrated FPU, you had to add a separate co-processor for that. I could go on about clock multipliers and base frequencies but I'll spare you.

Wow - by 1992 I was on my fourth homebuilt PC. The KCS computer shows in Marlborough MA were an amazing resource for tinkerers. Buy parts, build PC and use for a while, sell PC, buy more parts - repeat.

By the end of 1992 I was running a 486-DX3 100 with a ULSI 487 math coprocessor.

For a short period of time I arguably had the fastest PC - and maybe computer on campus. It outran several models of Pentium and didn't make math mistakes.

I justified the last build because I was simulating a gas/diesel thermal-electric co-generation plant in a 21 page Excel spreadsheet for my honors thesis. The recalculation times were killing me.

Degree was in environmental science. Career is all computers.

It depends on whether it was done intentionally and with reckless disregard for human life. If the drone operator was intoxicated and caused the plane to crash it could very well be vehicular homicide.

I had some music playing in the background while testing a Youtube livestream for the first time. Nobody was connected, I was working on camera settings. Google shut it down within a few minutes and bitched at me about a copyright violation. That was the last time I used Youtube.

Protip - it's often cheaper to heat with burning buffalo chips than electricity even if your heat pump is super efficient. Do a spreadsheet and maybe get some solar panels to feed the new beast. We are doing a Gemini POC and this nugget dropped in my lap today. We were not entirely unprepared as a result. The default level of access is just the interactive chatbot thing. However if you enable the Google Workspace extension it will be able to search and process all the information stored in your workspace account and also any Google Drive files that are shared with you. This includes stuff you didn't know you had access to in Shared Drives so folks better make sure their permissions are locked down. Workspace admins might be advised to turn it off at the org level until they understand the ramifications.

Happy to see the ARC bypass for NVMe performance. ZFS really fails to exploit NVMe's potential. Online expansion might be interesting. I tried to use ZFS for some very busy databases and ended up getting bitten badly by the fragmentation bug. The only way to restore performance appears to be copying the data off the volume, nuking it and then copying it back. Now -perhaps- if I expand the zpool then I might be able to reduce fragmentation by copying the tablespace on the same volume.
