jacoplane··on In search of a European Google
I don't think enough users care enough about privacy for there to be a massive market there. If not why didn't more people switch to DuckDuckGo or Diaspora?

So they're doing exactly what the NSA and GCHQ are doing but they're actually being transparent about the fact that they're doing it?

Hey, your site is great, just a suggestion, you might consider submitting your site to PocketCasts (email support@shiftyjelly.com), it's the most popular podcasting app on Android, and you don't seem to be in their directory. jacoplane··on It's time: bring Dart to Android

jacoplane··on The future of Fiber
More competition in this space can only be a good thing. Besides, Google has done a whole lot more to protect their users from government surveillance than the telcos have.

jacoplane··on The PC is not dead, we just don't need new ones
This is why I love my Kindle Paperwhite so much. I could read on my Ipad, but it's so easy to jump into something else with that. The Kindle's limitations let me get on with reading without being tempted by other things.

jacoplane··on Reddit is down for 12 hours protest SOPA and PIPA.
People in the reddit IRC channel are talking about using HackerNews: brace yourselves :)
jacoplane··on Books in the Age of the iPad
I've basically stopped reading books, and have gone 100% audio books. I listen in my car, in bed, while going jogging. I love it, although I imagine it's not for everyone.
