From the research I've done on them, they generally make tons of very small bets on assets they think are mispriced. Generally speaking, when volatility goes dramatically up is when more assets are mispriced thus leading to larger gains for them. However, we've seen historically low volatility so it makes sense that they're not returning as much right now.
Years back when Google started testing its cars it gave their employees the chance to use their very preliminary technology during their commute. They made it explicitly clear that the driver still had to be ready to take absolute control of the car at any moment but what they found was that their employees were doing the absolutely the opposite: playing on their phones, reaching into the back seat, etc. That's why Waymo has been adamant that they'll only release their tech when it's 100% ready.

Overall though, I highly recommend
This needs way better transparency
The one minor issue is there is a syntax error in the readme. Should be import "github.com/apsdehal/go-logger", not "go get github.com/apsdehal/go-logger"
