Where do you get those silly ideas?
(We ended up shipping a webapp which was another kind of disaster on their phones).
They tried to persuade us to use Qt to write apps (as alternative to iOS)... and they haven't shipped a single phone with Qt available as toolkit. They told us they might ship an update for N95 and perhaps one other model to pre install the library. At the time when they had literally hundreds of models.
When we finally put an app on their store, they failed to approve it in 6 months (!). Apparently because we chose the whole Europe as launch target so each country's Nokia office had to approve it separately. Silly us.
Afterwards we moved to Android (1.5, with 1.6 coming) and iPhoneOS.
F-Droid took until now to use those APIs.
Every EU topic here is filled with people wishing for its destruction and dismantling of such privacy protecting laws.
We were there and we didn't install Chrome via some made up toolbar installer, but because it was significantly better than what Mozilla and Internet Explorer offered.
Chrome was better than competition pretty much all its lifetime and there's plenty of historic articles to prove it, no matter how much your emotions refuse to accept the history.
Don't be a prick.
You do care about the market and aren't just angry because a corp doesn't listen to your orders, right? RIGHT?
Been hearing both for the same time.
Google also fully maintains the ART VM running on Android - despite Oracle, the owner and developer of Java - famously wanting a piece of it.
What community contributions are you talking about there? Where does this myth come from?
So yeah, don't expect EU to defend you here.
This whole topic is basically people demanding that Google continues giving them their code for free for their operating system.
If it's really such a cancer, why whine and demand the continued work then?
