iwontberude··on Americans hate AI so much that politicians are losing their jobs over it
You missed the sarcasm I think
iwontberude··on What AI did to stackoverflow in a graph
So I guess Wikipedia will eventually face the same fate
iwontberude··on Regressive JPEGs
You can do this with the gif too, I have once created a toy cgi that combined a gif sending one frame at a time with an image map allowing you to Remote Desktop with no JavaScript and click around. JPEG may have been a better choice, maybe I’ll revisit this.

Sorry to put words in your mouth, totally agree
iwontberude··on 42% of adults rely on their parents for financial support
CPI is a bullshit number. CPI indexes Social Security COLAs, TIPS payouts, tax brackets, and federal pensions. Every 0.1% shaved off CPI saves the Treasury real money on its indexed obligations.

You are assuming people need the models they use today. The reality is much much smaller models will suffice (i.e. dont use god models for dog work)
iwontberude··on Running Gemma 4 26B at 5 tokens/sec on a 13-year-old Xeon with no GPU
We dont need god models (1T+) to do dog work. People use far more powerful models than they ever need to, but they don’t even know it yet. They create fake demand with FOMO.

LLMs for coding is too small of a benefit to justify this investment, the bubble is indeed going to burst. Genie is already on its way back into the bottle.

Then they can hire attorneys and bring a tort suit against every single person supposedly unjustly enriched

Piracy isn’t stealing because copies don’t destroy the original

Because for the company that will actually do it, their biggest customers aren’t data centers they are iPhone owners.

Android is a wasteland, not surprised
iwontberude··on Control the Ideas, Not the Code
It makes everyone more average and same-y. It’s a good average, better than bad, but I cringe everytime I see someone claiming it’s a force multiplier for their personal expression. Bullshit.

Which equals fame and intrigue in the Trump era, big congratulations to Mr. Tan on his new found wealth
iwontberude··on The glass backbone: Why the Army's logistics will break in the next war
Given the defense budget recently doubled and they lose account of trillions of dollars, I guess I don’t see how they aren’t spending money on the tail.
iwontberude··on Amazon without the knockoffs
That's great to hear! I suppose I always wondered about how Bambu printers fare over time. I have had all sorts of issues with my Creality and FlashForge machines. They have sorta scared me away from the enterprise a bit.
iwontberude··on Amazon without the knockoffs
3D printing is more a practice than it is a way to quickly create one off objects. I think certainly if your machine is dialed in and not malfunctioning in some way then it will be cheaper and faster to print than to buy this.
iwontberude··on What Emily Bender meant by "stochastic parrots"
I respect you and parrots, please don’t use parrots as an insult.
iwontberude··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
These nerds that have to biohack and optimize to be physically fit are coping by claiming that jocks don’t get high. Sporty types are genetically different and have plenty of capacity for cannabis use.
iwontberude··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
Not really, it more depends if you are east coast or west coast. East coast has stigma associated with loss of control. They have a stick up their ass basically.
iwontberude··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
In my country, California, we have so much cannabis use and it’s by basically everyone. People with spouse and children, fulfilling careers and exercise regimes. The culture of a place really can change the outcomes. It’s part of why Silicon Valley beat Route 128.
iwontberude··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
Dilation lowers blood pressure
iwontberude··on Cannabis users face substantially higher risk of heart attack (2025)
Cannabis causes dilation of blood vessels and elevated HR, it’s the same effect. If you take a big dab you can definitely feel your blood pressure drop and muscles relax even though your heart rate has increased.
iwontberude··on The Reports of Jim Carrey's Death Are a Failure Mode
This is what gives me hope that we will have a societal collapse and be forced to reckon with the monster we’ve been pressing snooze on (oligarchy). AI gives people the tools to press forward to and beyond their level of incompetence and accelerate us to a place where they cannot sustain.
iwontberude··on Valve open-source the Steam Machine e-ink screen so you can make your own
The goons that run public company boards would never allow for such gratuity.
iwontberude··on Markets are competitive if and only if P = NP
Yeah using time complexity for computers to describe markets is simultaneously awesome and stupid.
iwontberude··on Markets are competitive if and only if P != NP
It’s a great excuse for collusion

I agree with your conclusion. We start by enslaving certain classes of humans like Peter Thiel or Elon Musk. Anyone with more than $1B gets the collar. Populism is a helluva drug.
