Poor international connectivity.

Small country, where do you hire a lawyer with expertise in Icelandic IP law? How much jurisprudence is there?

Do you trust the government given that they just basically walked away from their bank guarantees

Supposedly the 'internet generation' are now savy enough to know this.

If you launch a site called "sport.com" or "music.com" young people know that however hip and trendy your graphics you must be a bank/$Bn corp to own that name. So to appeal to 'yoof' you have to have a "the only address we could get" type meaningless name ( even if you are a $Bn corp!)

Last stats I saw showed that for W Europe the average user had owned >5 handsets.

The reason I bike to work is that in the traffic here I can do the trip in 20mins vs >1hour in a car. The bike computer says I averaged just over 30km/h ,max 70km/h (there's a big hill!)

I even beat the neighbors Porsche on the bike - I don't have the STI and the WRX is detuned in this market so it can't beat the Porshce on it's own!

When I'm not cycling I have a Subaru WRX, and yet on the road I'm held up by all these people in SUVs,minivans and pickup trucks that can't do 0-60 in <5secs like I can.

Same on sidewalks - I'm jogging along and the sidewalk is crowded with old people that can't maintain a 50min 10K time, they should get out of my way.

What about the Asian market more than 10km from the coastal cities?

The same market that has one Nokia1100 per village in Africa aren't about to buy $100 smartphones for each of their kids.

We used to use the "would you kill a jogger for his organs" question on smug medical student applicants - those who wanted to be doctors "to help people".

Another good question is ask them why they don't become civil engineers - good drains save a lot more people than doctors ever did.

The research was conducted by a prof at my old school.

He also discovered that drivers gave a female cyclist much more space - although since he did the experiment himself in a blonde wig he did consider that perhaps they just give unconvincing transvestites more room !

It happened for millenia before that, people were chiseled out of Egyptian and Roman monuments by later rulers.

Paintings were also 'improved'. Washington didn't cross the Delaware standing up in an overcrowded boat striking a heroic pose while everybody else fended off icebergs - or at least if he did he was an idiot.

That explains the behavior of all the drivers as I cycle to work. They are all moral philosophers and believe that by killing me they provide donor organs to save 6 others.

Maybe I need a cycling top that says "I don't carry a donor card"

90% of potential cell phone customers aren't looking for a smartphone, they don't currently have any sort of phone and guess who makes all the cheap waterproof rugged phones.

hint - the next billion customers don't live near Apple stores.

It does seem to have gone too much the other way though - magazines doing a complete hair-shirt act because somebody made a cover image which is obviously meant to be a cartoon ie adding the floor shadow to an election booth, or the highway signs to the politician's coat.

Similar quote attributed to Henry Ford - "if I asked my customers what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse"

I assume they are getting a big chunk of local/national/eu grants to support the depressed area and a quick pass on building/environmental permits which you wouldn't get for building it in the capital.

Plus as the article says - this is really the St. Petersburg/Stalingrad/Leningrad data center without the political problems of having to keep renaming it.
