"Maybe in forty years I'll finally be able to use Plan 9." - LOL!!
Most people don't get the 'schlep' as pg wrote about recently. Startup success stories aren't all about One Amazing Idea and the code that goes with it. It's about the whole ride.
This may sound like an ad for the app, but I have nothing to do with Alex (the creator) or his company. This app is just that good.
The kicker is that Alex is actually working on his own git library for the app, so in the next month or so expect to be able to have native git capabilities right from your iPad. Cannot wait!
- what exactly does it do? - who's your biggest competitor? - what's the target market/country? - do you want a matching domain name?
Maybe we could hash a name out here :)
For instance, I currently require 3-7 clicks to understand the entire offering and how they compare cost wise. This needs to be done to 2 clicks max.
Also, your primary call-to-action needs to stand out on the landing page, above the fold.
There are bunch of other optimizations I see, but for the first cut this is really good.
Best wishes :)
Another one is Skills. To by Joshua (founder Delicious). It's a bit of an abstraction vis a vis your idea, but its definitely in the neighbourhood.
EDIT - Remembered the name -> CoderWall :P
This way I can just keep an instant overview of the pending sizes. Thanks mate!
We just turned every other 'project management' app off but Trello (goals/tasks/bugs/feedback) & Beanstalk (repo);
- Email/Pass - FB - Twitter - Google
For your specific community, I would consider the following as well
- Tumblr (designers!) - GitHub - (& maybe even) Dribbble
Hence, even when Twitter 'added' photos, they went with Photobucket so as to not change the nature of their stack. It had taken them 3 years to really get ahead of their adoption curve for 'just' text.
Would be awesome to Not leave DDG and preview the image (jpg/png/gif) results in a gallery.
Any chance of integrated media galleries? I think Bing & Google are really effin this up.
