itbeho··on Shame on Y Combinator
Obama in 2011? He certainly didn't say it was based on religion, but these were almost all muslim countries of origin:

That "sexy librarian" line jumped out at me as well. There seems to be an over arching quality of smugness to the author's writing style that doesn't really fit with the subject matter as a whole for me.
itbeho··on Ask HN: What book have you given as a gift?
Fiction: Nine Princes in Amber by Roger Zelazny.

Non-Fiction: How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

Technical: The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Richie

itbeho··on What Silicon Valley Insiders Think of Peter Thiel’s Speech at RNC
I was visiting my home town recently and ran into a former neighbor that is a Trump supporter. His answer for "great again" was that when he was younger his entire family had middle class incomes and nobody that he recalled received direct government assistance. Now, he says about a third of his family can't get by without help from the government and he sees the increasing dependence as bad for the family and for the country.
itbeho··on Trump Supporters Are Rarer Than Unicorns in Silicon Valley
I think it's a shame that the only options we'll likely have are Trump or Clinton. I don't support either.

I'm also continually disappointed with some of the small mindedness I see in Silicon Valley towards people that don't think or believe what the herd does.

What successful company has Taber solo founded? The about section on that marketing page doesn't really inspire me to fork over $199.
itbeho··on Apple’s declining software quality
I've experienced a similar issue with song removal. I've also had to jump through a bunch of hoops to finally delete a few old apps that kept coming back after being deleted as well.
itbeho··on Ask HN: My client stopped paying; should I tell the end users?
I don't see how you would be obligated to provide service to your client's customers for free. Move on and put your energy into something that has a return on your time investment.
itbeho··on Many See I.R.S. Penalties as More Affordable Than Health Insurance
Same here. Had a plan I liked cancelled out from under me. Result is higher premiums, higher deductibles and much higher max out of pocket fees. Lots of little things not covered that were before.

And I wasn't able to keep my doctor either.

itbeho··on What it’s like to house-hunt in Silicon Valley, the nation’s priciest market
Interesting words there. "Old timers" and "forced". Pretty much the reason Prop-13 came about.
itbeho··on What The New York Times Didn’t Say About Amazon
I agree. But what percentage of the media would you consider "left wing"? Or "right wing"?
itbeho··on How Two Guys Lost God and Found $40M
There have always been loan sharks and a subset of the economy that they feed off of.

What is troubling is that the business segment described in the article is so profitable that it has attracted institutional investors at a much bigger scale, which makes me think the number of small businesses in trouble these days must also be higher.

Similar experiences here. I liked my 911 quite a bit, but absolutely loved my Honda S2000.
itbeho··on July 2015 was warmest month ever recorded
Re: NOAA, not NASA, but it's because of articles like this:

http://www.realclearpolicy.com/blog/2015/08/20/the_latest_cl...

When confronted with an obviously broken weather station that was reading way too hot, they replaced the faulty sensor — but refused to adjust the bad readings it had already taken. And when dealing with "the pause" in global surface temperatures that is in its 19th year, the agency threw away satellite-sensed sea-surface temperatures, substituting questionable data that showed no pause.

itbeho··on Ask HN: Career in Web development
Everyone gets frustrated at some point. The key is not to give up, but overcome the issues making your frustrated :)

Pick one of the following, in no particular order and certainly not a complete list, and immerse yourself in it (Python, Ruby, Java). Then build your career.

itbeho··on Eating Spicy Food Linked to a Longer Life
Take this with the same perspective as how the article treats correlation/causation, but I'll share an interesting anecdote. I have several family members in their 90's that love to put cayenne pepper in/on almost anything. One even puts it in orange juice if you can believe that. I tried it once... That fellow started smoking when he was in WWII and hasn't stopped. The less-eccentric/vegan/non-smoker members of the family seem to make it to late 70's.
itbeho··on Ask HN: How much does a web developer make in 2015
San Francisco, or Des Moines, Iowa? Really depends on where you are.

itbeho··on Sandra Bland arrest video has continuity problems, anomalies
I was on a two lane road once, in the fast lane, driving the posted speed limit right at dusk. I noticed car headlights coming up behind me at a very high rate of speed and realized it was a cop. I assumed there was a hurry to get to an accident or something. I switched lanes to get out of the way, but found myself pulled over instead. The cop kept asking "why did you change lanes like that?" And I kept replying that "you were doing what looked like 90mph coming up behind me, what reasonable person wouldn't?". Really felt like the guy was having a bad day and looking for someone to take it out on. He wrote me a ticket.

Is this the same guy that does psycho-analysis on founders before giving them funding?
itbeho··on Leo Laporte shuts Twit.tv's live stream and chat
I was watching that live. Pretty clear from his reaction that he realized what was shown. Blaming it on trolls (I know he has them) just makes me lose respect for the guy.

I mean, kids watch his shows. Really inappropriate and there is no way that was "photoshopped" as per his excuses about it.

itbeho··on Obama and Rand Paul Face Off Over the Patriot Act

itbeho··on Obama and Rand Paul Face Off Over the Patriot Act
I hear this often, but there is actually quite a bit of evidence to refute your "fuck you, I've got mine" reference in regards to conservatives. I see it anecdotally in my own family, which is pretty evenly split ideologically.

Donated money to charity? Republicans 54%, Democrats 45% Volunteered for a cause? Republicans 33%, Democrates 24% [1]

"...households headed by conservatives give 30 percent more to charity than households headed by liberals" [2]
