I make bicycle pedal powered sound systems - http://sustainablesound.org
And I teach people and create art for events with my Artup http://SustainableMagic.org
It's a pretty clever hack, using Wifi without associating, but still using FEC (Forward Error Correction) and mirroring that to allow bi-directional communications for control/telemetry. Also allows RF diversity reception with multiple wifi adapters.
I was experimenting with it for semi-local telepresence robotics for art/experiences. These projects are amazing in how much cheaper/more approachable/hackable they make all this vs. analog or proprietary digital video transmission.
I'm not sure if OpenHD is directly related to WifiBroadcast/ I haven't had a chance to play with it yet (been meaning to for 6 months+), but it's at least using similar approaches with wifi (mis)use.
There have also been some attempts to use the same approach with esp32 (etc) in a compatible way, though the link eludes me currently.

Not Uber/Lyft/Instacart/Postmates flavor “change the world” - a more meaningful change.
To me at least, SpaceX is getting there in multiple ways.
FSF has high ideals, and fundamentally needs buy in from people on a lot of levels for them to succeed. It needs community. They could be really thankful to RMS’s getting things going but I don’t really understand why, now, they would add him back to the board. Is he saying new things that aren’t linear from the creation of FSF where his continued high level involvement is more helpful to the end goals than the community upset I would hope the board was aware of as a possibility?
Apps that don’t need cloud service yet cease to function and lock access to my own data if a subscription expires have really turned me off of subscriptions.
Letting users keep what they have paid for up to that point after subscription lapse, and making it easy to pay for access to the newer features is a great way to support developers while not ripping off consumers.
The base app getting updated on ongoing basis is better for consumer and doesn’t require maintaining separate codebases for the developer for bug/security/device support fixes.
Nice work and well thought out. Would love to see this approach spread.

Apple is a remarkably focused company with a lot of experiments that never see the light of day. They don't sell their chips or motherboards to anyone else.
Qualcomm/Broadcom etc exist to make their chips for other companies to use and still getting real documentation from them is often not possible unless you are a giant OEM, commit to millions in orders and sign lots of NDAs.
Apple's not only created a pretty great integrated CPU/GPU and nearly seamlessly transitioned CPU platforms (AGAIN!) but they are at the very beginning of this roadmap.
I'd LOVE them to empower/support Linux on Apple Silicon (as they seem to be saying they will for Microsoft) but I expect a generation of two of chips before things solidify/stabilize enough for them to open up the platform.
And, it's not like this is something within their business model or is going to give much value back to them.
Lots of people say Apple "Needs" to do whatever... Clearly they don't as they seem to be surviving OK doing things how they want.
The M1 generally keeps up quite well, which blows my mind. The power use difference Is pretty big as well.
Yeah, it would be great if Apple was totally open source.
But this is going to push the entire industry to do way better.
Interesting point though, using 3 languages with such overlap cause a lot of issues in making the web work cleanly.
