iqonik··on Ask HN: Those making $1,000+/month on side projects – what did you make?
1) It does LinkedIn too - I can add Google+ if a customer requests it though - fire me an email if you're interested (in my profile)?

2) Yes, when you include a picture in the status update it goes across accounts.

3) It's UK specific purely because of my location and the high touch sales process I have at the moment - there isn't anything stopping the product working in any timezone.

https://retailwizard.co.uk & https://propertywizard.io (Same product, different marketing)

Automated social media assistant for small businesses in the UK - currently making £750 MRR. If you have any questions I'm happy to answer.

iqonik··on Show HN: ChatPage.io – Private chat for sales and client communication
Looks good, the only thing I hate is the 'Free during BETA'. It makes me wonder how you're going to keep going, I'm worried you'll become a key part of my sales process but then one day, disappear.

Take my money straight away, seriously, I don't care that it's BETA, take my money! Don't be scared, you're creating value for me.

iqonik··on How to create an instagram-like iOS app in an afternoon
Worth mentioning it involves using your company, which if successful, you will have to pay for. Other than that, it looks very comprehensive!
iqonik··on IT Question
"Inside Sales Representative at Cogent Communications"

First time I have seen a sales person post here to try and get contact details, hopefully this doesn't become a habit.

Afraid I cannot help you and doubt someone who can will. Good luck though, I know Sales is a hard game, I'd rather code any day!

iqonik··on SHOW HN: What did people post to Instagram or Flickr near you?
I have a commercial use for this for my business, please reach out to me (email in profile) if interested.
iqonik··on Show HN: GeoScreenshot – Easily test Geo-IP based web pages
This is great, but my use case is a little different:

"Is your website up around the world?"

and this is perfect for that!

iqonik··on Ask HN: How does your company handle SSH keys
+1 We do this too
iqonik··on This is party time; Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 die on Tuesday
In my experience it is far less than the cost of acquiring new customers, onboarding and supporting them, also far less risky.
iqonik··on This is party time; Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 die on Tuesday
And then when your clients don't renew, your revenue is significantly affected, you have to lay off staff, you have a realization that this works in an ideal world, but we don't live in one.
iqonik··on Ask HN: 11 days off for Christmas vacation – What would you learn?
Build an MVP in 2-3 days, release and market. You'll learn a lot about business :)
iqonik··on Ask HN: Open Source my web app or Sell it on Flippa?
Have you tried promoting it? You're walking away when things are just about to get interesting and the true lessons take place.
iqonik··on Ask HN: What was your best passive income in 2015?
"In order to send emails on your behald, "

Spelling error on your FAQ's - nice product.

Excuse my ignorance, what is FN?
iqonik··on Ask HN: How to be a great Junior Engineer?
Plus most of the best technical conversations take place over beer. Lots of beer.
iqonik··on Ask HN: How best to break up with cofounder?
I'll be brutally honest, just walk away.

You gave it a good go and have decided it isn't for you.

If it is still for your co-founder, thats fine - it sounds like she is the one with the debt anyway?

There is not point in haggling for equity if your company isn't profitable - it's worth nothing and you have decided you don't have the resources to make it profitable.

If you're really worried about it becoming something in the future, then perhaps you're not done yet and should regroup or pivot the idea.

You can't have your cake and eat it.

iqonik··on What is your current side project?
Feel free to drop me an email (in my profile). I'm happy to share how I got started and offer any advice I can.
iqonik··on What is your current side project?
Mine is:

propertywizard.io

It's a tool that plugs into the leading UK property website and allows Estate Agents to share their properties, news and status updates automatically (or scheduled) to social media.

Currently making around £1000 per month, if anyone has any questions i'll be happy to answer :)

iqonik··on Ask HN: Build it and they will come or 50% marketing?
"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

You can spend countless hours making improvements but without a user base, you have no idea if they are needed or wanted. Build your MVP, and whilst you're building it, shout about it. Tell everyone. Nobody is going to steal your idea.

Marketing should start from day one and in my opinion be bigger than a 50% split. More like 70% marketing. This will let you streamline your development time and only build things that will benefit your users, and ultimately your revenue stream.

Good luck with your product :)

iqonik··on Show HN: UnSend.it, modify emails after its sent / read by the recipient
How did you work around that? As far as I know mailchimp aren't able to so if you know how, you might have a product in itself!
iqonik··on Show HN: UnSend.it, modify emails after its sent / read by the recipient
Even this is flawed as gmail caches images so any subsequent edits would not be displayed!
iqonik··on Ask HN: How does email tracking work?
It is normally an image like others have said, however, Google's caching inside gmail is causing some problems:

https://blog.mailchimp.com/how-gmails-image-caching-affects-...

So I would say it is not 100% anymore, but, no alternative approach is out there either.

iqonik··on Show HN: 6 days until broke/homeless: here is my hack
Looks interesting and it's a nice feature. Not sure if it is a standalone app though - I have the default weather app that works just fine.

However, you have something that would be valuable to other Apps such as Next, New Look or similar (I'm in the UK, so these shops may not be relevant to you.). I would suggest approaching them and offering to license your software so every morning a push alert is sent to their users with the weather for that day and a suggested outfit from their shop. That is the only route to real monetisation that I can see.

iqonik··on Show HN: 6 days until broke/homeless: here is my hack
heh. You're probably right, except I wonder if I'd be helping to keep a business going when I'm not sure that is what is right thing to do here.
iqonik··on Show HN: 6 days until broke/homeless: here is my hack
What is your other business? Why is it failing?

I appreciate you're trying to hang on in there, but it might be better to cut your losses and move on to the next thing.

iqonik··on Free subscription to CVs of the best specialists for remote work

iqonik··on Free subscription to CVs of the best specialists for remote work
Looks good but it has left me thinking, how do you make money? or how do you intend to in the future?
iqonik··on Ask HN: SAAS Clients who care too much about company people and not product
This comes up all the time, the best thing to do is use it to your advantage.

I assume your SaaS offers support, if you're a small team, when they call they will always speak to someone they have spoken to before, if you're a one-man-band, they are speaking to the CEO of the company every time they have a query. They don't have to wait for decisions to filter through, they will get an immediate response.

If they're worried about committing because you might go bust, offer a rolling monthly contract with the option to have 2 month free if they sign up for a year.

You'll be surprised how many go for the year after 2-3 months of paying full price.

Edit: Just to be clear, they aren't nightmare customers - they are within their right to know who they are doing business with. Just don't be ashamed if you're small, turn it around.
