ipaddr··on The problem is not the AI code, but nobody knows anything anymore
she'd been trained to think every problem we had interacting with each other had something to do with "the patriarchy

Who is teaching these young girls such foolish things?

ipaddr··on Meta Blocks President Lula's Facebook Page, Campaign Ads 2 Weeks from Election
Appears is the key word as most have gotten around the ban while others move to other sites usually from China.
ipaddr··on Feds Target AI Critics as "Foreign Agents"
From my understanding this intel came from US intelligence agencies. I don't think scientists are against this viewpoint. In fact many spoke out against the pengina / wwt market theory.

You should believe the intelligence agencies.

ipaddr··on Feds Target AI Critics as "Foreign Agents"
Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 100 times and declined to answer questions during a heated July 29, 2026, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing.

He was wrong about so many things and now refuses to talk. Also got the first pre pardon for crimes undiscovered against him.

ipaddr··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
I can't think of a more human place .
ipaddr··on Feds Target AI Critics as "Foreign Agents"
Sometimes the most interesting people are people with ideas outside of the same groupthink circle. Everyone who has changed society has been called a quack by a square.
ipaddr··on US criticises Australia's proposed algorithm opt-out laws as 'censorship'
2016 Trump is different from 2026 Trump. His popularity is 29%; many jumped ship over Epstein and many more over Iran. His core supporters in 2016 are not his core supporters now.
ipaddr··on US criticises Australia's proposed algorithm opt-out laws as 'censorship'
The left wing owns the institutions, big tech and the media and have been controlling speech for the last number of years. Perhaps you've haven't gone to a workplace reeducation class where white people mostly males are berated for the privilege they have because they are white. Or maybe your covid post haven't had your meta account banned or the post labelled misinformation because you wanted to share science.

Trump has been not letting people in the country, kicking them out of schools and searching phones at borders to find out if they have made any posts against Jews.

That's nothing to do with the right wing and everything to do with the Jewish lobby. He has been attacking the right wing for the same reasons. Tucker Carlson, Joe Kent, Majorie Green etc all have been attacked, investigated, fired for speaking against Israel.

Trump silences those against Israel while the left silences those against Men in Women's sports, bathrooms, gender surgery for toddlers. Also anyone who questions covid, diy and white men in general.

The right wing is the only place allowing to have free speech. And Fox News isn't considered right wing.

ipaddr··on The darker side of being a doctor
"decent mid-level developer or tech executive makes more than nearly all physicians"

That's no where near true for a mid level developer or most tech execs or most senior developers. If you exclude faangs a top developer doesn't make as much as a doctor.

ipaddr··on US criticises Australia's proposed algorithm opt-out laws as 'censorship'
You got exactly what you voted for. The left is pro censorship now. From political correctness to deplatforming, to right speech to labeling things misinformation to forgetting my body my choice when Covid came along. This is the natural end of wokism.
ipaddr··on What California is learning from solar panels built over irrigation canals
Or you could give them an option of treatment instead of jail.
ipaddr··on Ask HN: How to recover Google auth after phone stolen?
I never understood why people would bring their phones in public. From getting stolen, lost or broken to the tracking and border accessing your social media accounts, personal photos and bank information it makes very little sense when no one actual calls anyone anymore.
ipaddr··on Disney+: New user agreement allows ads before movies in all subscriptions
That's like complaining you purchased netflix subscriptiomn without ads and saw a product placement ad in a movie. I guess you want netflix to not show the movie, start cutting up the movie or ask that the movie be remade without any products.
ipaddr··on Stripe Withholding Balance of $100000
Everyone has a paypal account in America fewer have Apple pay.
ipaddr··on Stripe Withholding Balance of $100000
What to do next wait for the review to finish (or some longer timeframe has passed) if you are unhappy with the results then you can bring this to a lawyer.

Is it legal, yes it's in your terms? They are verifying its not a scam and not money laundering.

"If it takes longer it will affect our brand identity since it financially blocks us."

Look into additional payment providers you should at least have paypal checkout already on your site.

ipaddr··on Executive order on H-1B nonimmigrant visa administration
So the Koch brothers came up with the Milankovitch cycles. Even though it was proposed in 1842 by Joseph Adhémar then in 1860 James Croll added orbital theory in 1911 Milutin Milankovitch came up with the math.

The big event that caused it to come into pop culture in the 70s was a landmark paper by James Hays, John Imbrie and Nicholas Shackleton, published in Science in 1976.

But you think its the Koch brothers. And anyone who actual knows history is playing denialist bingo.

You've won the hacker news Candace Owens conspiracy award for ignoring facts and doubling down on a silly conspiracy theory because it fits some narrative you want to promote today.

ipaddr··on Executive order on H-1B nonimmigrant visa administration
In the 60s/70s they had the world is going into another ice age scare. Based on historical patterns we are in a cooling phase based on Milankovitch cycles. A long slow cooling phase going into another ice age. You can't blame the Koch brothers.
ipaddr··on Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md if there is no Claude.md
Windows does mklink. Not surprised with git.
ipaddr··on Ask HN: What is Y Combinator's position on Flock's standing today?
Flock won't help protect your shovel. No one is getting flagged for being in an area they don't live when you report missing lawn art. Its used for more serious crimes and to build a map that tracks where everyone goes, when and combined with your cell data who you are.

You personal benefit nothing and lose privacy of movement.

For most people it means nothing until it does.

ipaddr··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
They lower the rank of sites with ads often pushing them out.
ipaddr··on Everyone should slow down AI development except for me
Core meaning: Barely adequate, average, or just acceptable.

Mediocre means of only ordinary or moderate quality—neither very good nor very bad, and often slightly disappointing

The quality is average but expectations of high quality are not met. He expected more but got what he asked for. We overuse top models because of this.

ipaddr··on Everyone should slow down AI development except for me
"Opus delivered mediocre, so I did not let it finish"

Mediocre means average / middle of the pack. It sounds like its doing exactly what you would expect nothing more. Why would you stop it? Why would you need exceptional?

ipaddr··on Everyone should slow down AI development except for me
That's the case for open weights models. Hosted Deepseek Flash 731 copy isn't changing randomly one day because the parent company decided to change it.
ipaddr··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
You can not find the value of 10 searches a day for 5 dollars and complain about Google. Yandex,DDG and Bing are major search engine choices.

Kagi has limitations like not showing sites with ads which many people with ad blockers don't mind.

ipaddr··on google.com/goto: Google's anti-scraping update
You are worth much more than a dollar. Each search is worth between 10 and 90 cents. If Google shared that with the user people would be happier
ipaddr··on Ask HN: Is GPT-6 Astra worth the 2.5x cost increase over GPT-5.6 Sol?
For the average person on here no. In fact 5.6 is probably unneeded. What DeepSeek 731 flash offers most wouldn't need anything else.

I use to want to use the best model because I wanted the highest quality output but they all produce that now. If you are trying to understand an ancient language humans don't or solve a math mystery or fixing old undocumented firmware maybe. If you are trying to create a react app or backend I wouldn't bother.

The rule of thumb is if Stack overflow could answer your question don't bother with Astra or Sol.
