Britbong, retired "rich" thanks to investments, after spending 2 decades working in terrible companies with terrible pay across the country of England.

Spending my time drinking coffee, tea and remembering to put myself down every single time I make a post on HN. You know, so I get a normal decent conversation from some thin skinned gatekeeping neckbeard burrowed deep inside a 6 figure FANG company who is not doing his job, yet clearly winning at life.

Sorry. I promise Ill get some therapy.

PS - If you are reading my profile because you are cross with somethign i said please rest assured, I have no idea who you are, I was only making a counter argument. You can downvote my comments but it has no affect on me, just reply with a clarification or a better argument and I will likely concede.

ionwake··on Lunar Terminator Paradox
Im not trying to be mean but nothing you said made any sense, possibly because I wasnt clear.

I do appreciate your time and your feedback and Im not great at patience but Im going to try because I am dim in many subjects.

I meant an exact solar eclipse where the Sun and the moon seem to match perfectly.

As such the math odds are low.

Finally, if I ever went to a shop and I was charged a round number like $50, or in my case even $3 I would immediately assume I am being scammed, as that is rare given the context. ( which incidentally happened to me once in Barcelona due to a local spanish barman trying to charge me a tourist tax ).

But I am grumpy and it is late, please forgive coarseness of my reply.

ionwake··on Lunar Terminator Paradox
is this a bad moment to mention how weird it is that the moon is perfectly positioned to create eclipses?

I think its pretty incomprehensible odds if you ask google.

But I could be wrong I know literally nothing about astronomy, it just always surprised me its not common, but it be cool if someone could explain that

ionwake··on CCC invites all model citizens to 40C3
the problem is it was a very interesting situation, but as usual I dont want to be too clear about it, to protect identities, but as as happened before, I get downvoted or told " without evidence I dont believe you".

Im not saying you are wrong its just I guess I wont bother as much, I just sometimes feel compelled to try and notify the community sometimes of something that was odd / of interest, but increasingly its just not picked up on.

At some point I wonder if its worth the effort.

But perhaps some readers pick up on it and figure things out.

ionwake··on M5 Ultra Mac Studio Review
apparently if you ever point out HN starts for hackernews and thus expect related attitudes you get downvoted by shocked ( what I guess are zoomers and not bots ) that desperately opine the name is a random abberation doesn't mean anything and one should not deviate from our corporate overlods in any manner.

I really liked that film.

trust me , my places only remain because of a lack of visitors.

it only takes one to ruin a beautiful spot.

it also means the only people to see it are ones worthy enough to have found it on their own. I like that. I would share with like minded others but only if I trust them.

shame I find it hard to motivate myself to grow my social circle, there should be a club maybe I should make one, but noone would want to join it lol not knowing what cool stuff we could share

I mean I even discover things that would blow my mind and then I realise most people would say something like " oh thats odd or naughty I dont like you or that", as in maybe I find a river with huge lilypads that I can take a nap on. I just know the most of the readers would be annoyed for some reason and might even do something that would bring negative attention to it and get the river closed or studied or something that would remove it from the environment. I just feel surrounded by narow minded idiots, and a few highly intelligent psychos.

I feel that in some cases I would only share info if I was paid but then noone would never even think to ask me.

Which is weird. As I could do with a dollar for a cup of coffee. Who knows. I probably wouldnt even do it for money.

ionwake··on Nike exits the S&P 100 after 18 years and a $200B market-cap wipeout
All I know is the "ON" shoes are easy to recognise on the street due to their completely bizarre soles, even for non shoe enthusiasts. Look even I didnt realize the N for new Balance was different for the N for Nike for like decades.

The focus on running by Hoka and ON, on the street, and IMO the "low quality" of the collectible Jordans, apparently were the deathknell.

But this is armchair speculation.

I liked the article. Everytime I discoered a unique place I want to tell the world about it and then I realize that could ruin it so I dont.

Its ironic

ionwake··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'
After doing some investigation into my Bang Olufsen after some tech not working right apparently Dev mode on it allows "Most probable raw grab: ThinQ/SSAP on the LAN after pairing — ~960×540 JPEG. Live Plus/ACR: most probably sends a fingerprint, not a retrievable raw frame."

As per HN thread last week

ionwake··on LG smart TVs caught logging audio with screen off and snooping on local devices
That did happen a few times , but Im telling you bro that TV restarted a couple times just as I was about to clutch, like the same second i was about to press a trigger in an otherwise boring 25 minute round more than once, but yes as I mentioned earlier it could be related to other tech aspects.
ionwake··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
Im not here to feed conspiracy theories and paranoia, its most likely a coincidence, and tied to having "excess metrics and advanced features that indirectly cause a kernel panic that turns the tv off".

But yes, after turning a bunch of unnecessary default options off, my TV never restarted again just as I was making a clutch moment.

So in summary - remember it could just be related to high action moment fps drain, heat, high intensity stuff making the nintendo switch2 compatibility cause a kernel affected restart etc etc etc ( which is documented via the HDMI protocols ) which make it SEEM like something weird is up, but it turns out its a related thing thats not that sus.

ionwake··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
I know its important to put things down to coincidence whenever possible, but a very expensive Bang OLufsen ( I think they use LG ) TV would turn itself off at "the" most interesting split second moments during gameplay , to the point where I thought "if I am being pranked by a friend, does this TV even stream its contents?".

Much to my surprise I found out that many modern TVs do in fact come with dev mode that allow some sort of screen capture.

Safe to say I turned off all the "allow metrics and market/dev modes" and have been happier since.

EDIT> Incase anyone was wondering I did some more research about my model ( im NOT a TV guy ) and came across this regarding what screen content could technically be passed remotely: "Most probable raw grab: ThinQ/SSAP on the LAN after pairing — ~960×540 JPEG. Live Plus/ACR: most probably sends a fingerprint, not a retrievable raw frame." No idea what it means but thought it might be relevant. Remember Im saying in my case it was a coincidence.
