Think of all the poor typography around you. If you have a critical eye and care you can spot all sorts of bad choices: That's a preview of the future. AI-generated disposable art (posters, billboards, menus etc) that is orthogonal to the actual thing being sold will continue being the norm.
More dot releases fixed stuff and people grew used to its quirks (which there were many).
Note that the lull also lined up with the intense focus and high development pace Apple had on iOS in the early years. Ironically making the commentariat of the time ask if Apple had given up on the Mac.
On the Tarot one, the 3D card in the bottom is both very elaborate and also pointless. No human would've put effort into making that. Not bad per se! But AI.
If you're being pedantic, no it's not "done," but nothing ever is.
Well, that's the ball game then. This isn't the industry to be an artist in, especially post-AI.
I just want to switch to Claude Code, tell it to turn a .csv into a BigQuery table then cmd+tab to something else while it runs. Thinking "oh this is probably an easy task, I can /model to Sonnet to save $0.0004" is silly.
I don't think the grandparent was implying the AI would be controlling robot arms to mix things directly (or at least I didn't interpret as such), but it could very well sit in the network until it notices two dangerous compounds in the same machine, and trigger a breakage that causes a harmful mixture. Break a vial containing a virus, then break two more that cause an emergency evac and maybe that's enough to get something out there.
You got a lot of replies already, but there's so much precedent. Plugging a Logitech mouse installs a network capable, autolaunch capable, pop up app for at least the past 10 years. LG's thing seems grodier, but this has been common Windows-ism for a while.
Netbooks are almost unique in tech history in how flash-in-the-pan they were. Crypto somehow had more staying power.
Chrome probably spawned two processes when I cmd+clicked this into a new tab. It really doesn't matter.
This is a step in that direction. The entire industry has been consolidating around Apple's look. Take a look at the old Google, Samsung and Microsoft versions of Woman dancer for a trip https://emojipedia.org/woman-dancing#designs
