interestpiqued··on Florida judge rules red light camera tickets are unconstitutional
I mean I’ve run red lights but only because I live in a city and there are times where it would be impossible to turn left due to oncoming traffic. So you poke your nose out a bit so the other directions see you and turn when incoming stops but before new directions start.

But even better, is they actually leverage the performance per watt improvements to shrink the battery and maintain the price.

Experience is usually a subjective thing. But it seems pretty clear to me. I’m was huge advocate of free speech and a political moderate but X made me question my priors on content moderation. There was genuinely heinous shit on my feed and i had no good way to filter it.

Their revenue is literally down over FY25. But it takes less than an hour for VC influencers to come out and and say we all need to work nights and weekends before getting displaced. https://x.com/balajis/status/2027146933136150867?s=46

To be fair X has significantly declined as an experience since Elon laid of 80%. I assume many of those he laid off were soft skill people that helped curate the experience.

I never said the world was just. But that doesn’t mean the Supreme Courts decision was as blatantly ideological as everyone imagines. Thomas concurring opinion was blatantly ideological as all his opinions are

The problem is, part of their whole appeal is being on the "frontier" of model development. So what happens when scaling gets too expensive or we reach some sort of end state for LLMs? They will lose their differentiation and it seems like a non negligible chance their pricing power collapses. The entire reason they make so much money is because they spend so much to be on the frontier.

Yeah but it’s hard to even find a 5mg these days. Most are 10 or 20 by me. Edibles aren’t immune from the increase in dosage.

Edit: also these aren’t pharma companies. It may have gotten better but I think manufacturing consistency isn’t good either. Highest I’ve ever been was from a single “2.5 mg”

AFAIK bringing charges in office had much less to do with that case. It was dismissed because he was elected president. Which seems more like a pacing problem for the prosecution. In office, they are the prosecutions boss. You’re never gonna be able to charge a sitting president. That’s what impeachment is for. Then you prosecute.
interestpiqued··on Trump's global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court
Sometimes how you do things is important. And tariffs by executive decree is bad policy.
interestpiqued··on Trump's global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court
Someone needs to track all the investment "promises" Trump touted he gained through negotiation with foreign countries. I got to imagine foreign countries had no plans on making good on those deals.
interestpiqued··on Trump's global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court
Earnestly, I think you need to actually read that opinion. They said some things the president does, he is immune for. And they pushed it back down to the lower courts to define the categories of official acts they laid out.
interestpiqued··on Trump's global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court
The tariffs have been flip flopping all year due to the admin. That’s why it’s not smart for it to be up to executive discretion

My first experience was with cursor and my entire team went through a honeymoon period before it got kind of sidelined. Average usage was giving an agent a couple shots at a problem but usually solving it ourselves ultimately. Internal demos were lackluster. Team was firmware though so might not be a great topic for GenAI yet.

You can also just use google family link, make someone else your parent, and lock down the phone. I have a "dumb phone" that is just a refurbished Samsung s22 I bought. Only supports phone calls, messaging, and some credit cards basically.
interestpiqued··on If you tax them, will they leave?
Billionaires tend to have multiple properties in multiple states/countries. This is more a residency issue and probably low friction for them to change states personally. The thing holding back would be where their business and employees are located.
interestpiqued··on If you tax them, will they leave?
This only works if stocks go up, up, and up. Otherwise they will have to realize gains at some point to pay off the loans.

I don't get why we have to jump all the way to a wealth tax, could they not just force asset backed loans to trigger a tax? This seems way more targeted and we won't have people assessing what everyone is worth. I think it would avoid some unnecessary precedent setting. They could put the impetus on the billionaire taking the loan to state what the assets are worth and related gains.

I don't think most people on either side of this issue can speak to the nuances of immigration law.
interestpiqued··on ICE using Palantir tool that feeds on Medicaid data
I think people are forgetting that ICE has been around for decades at this point and some if not most of the stuff they do is routine(Not including some recent enforcement behaviors). I agree with you that is not necessarily bad that the government is using its own data fed in to a vendor tool to enforce immigration.

interestpiqued··on Ask HN: How can we solve the loneliness epidemic?
I think people approach it wrong. The framing of solving our loneliness is kind of transactional in a way. Good relationships are not transactional. You got to work on yourself to be curious about others. If it’s genuine, people will reciprocate and relationships develop. You also won’t care as much about putting yourself out there, because the act of getting to know someone is what you like. Greatest thing that ever happened for my social life was hearing Ted Lasso quote “Be curious, not judgemental”.
