inferniac··on Why Omarchy Exists
Just dumb.

DHH is way past fuck you money, he does what he wants, you can hate / like it as much as you want, but claiming some grand conspiracy to get people to use more AI??? Just dumb.

>slowing down may just give the humans involved enough time to realize they should be loving one another

this is a level of hippie delusion i wasnt aware existed unironically

china is never slowing down, therefore the us shouldnt either

>voting for policy positions that obviously work against those voters' own interests

Delusions of grandeur / superiority complex much? Have you considered a posibility, that these voters just dont agree with your idea of what their best interests are?

>fictional terrorist organization called "antifa."

An organization so fictional, that just a few months back multiple members were convicted in a terrorist attack

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyedgnyn4mo

Antifa defenders just hide behind the fact that the movement is decentralized and leaderless by design, but that doesn't make it fictional.

They are obviously a terrorist organization and it is good to go after their financing and communication channels.

inferniac··on 'People are going to get screwed' Pennsylvania voters unite against data centres
why? data center opposition is just morons who don't know what they're talking about 99% of the time

anthropic people have genuine delusions of grandeur, in a way they the worst of all the ai companies, definitely most cult-like
inferniac··on How accurate have Ed Zitron's AI skeptic predictions been?
No, hes been extremely wrong multiple times, he should not be treated seriously

Its silly to say hes just early, when his predictions give specific timelines that don't work at all

- "so egregious that I am surprised it's not some kind of financial crime to say it out loud" — on OpenAI forecasting $11.6B for 2025 (https://www.wheresyoured.at/exclusive-openai-financials/) actual: $13.07B. source is his own scoop (https://www.wheresyoured.at/exclusive-openai-financials/)

- "artificial intelligence has three quarters to prove itself before the apocalypse comes" — Mar 2024

- "If OpenAI doesn’t either reduce their $8.5bn operating costs to $1bn or less and raise at least $5bn in the next year, they will die." — Jul 2024 2025 costs: $34B

- Generative AI “isn’t getting much more efficient” (Jul 2024 ). OpenAI’s frontier-model API price fell from $30/$60 per million input/output tokens for GPT-4 to $4/$20 for GPT-5.6 Sol, alongside major capability gains.

- “I would be shocked if [Musk’s] wealth doesn’t return to something more like he had in 2019 or 2020” (Dec 2022 ). Musk is now worth approximately $873 billion , several times his wealth when Zitron wrote this.

inferniac··on Civic Hygiene – avoid building technologies that could be used by a police state (2013)
What is the point of writing something like this?

It's embarassing for an adult to think like this. There will always be someone willing to build that thing (and that was true even before llms)

inferniac··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
I think anthropic is very far up their own ass and it shows up in the model output
inferniac··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
the tip that was floating around on x was to tell it to use "ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English"

cladue desktop has an instructions sections under general options, you can put something like

"try to stick to ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English, keep answers short and to the point"

funnily enough the placeholder they suggest when its empty is "keep answers short and to the point"

inferniac··on Grok 4.6
Maybe compute is the real moat (chinese possibly skip around it with distillation), xai is buildouts have been insanely fast (colossus 1 - 100,000 H100 GPUs brought online in 122 days lol) so maybe that explains them catching up

asked grok to give a compute estimate for each: - SpaceX / xAI: ~1.4 GW (owned Colossus clusters) - OpenAI: ~2–3 GW (mostly rented/cloud) - Anthropic: ~1.5–2.5 GW (multi-cloud + xAI lease)

chatgpt estimates a lower: - OpenAI: ~1.5M H100-eq ± ~0.8M - Anthropic: ~1.4M H100-eq ± ~0.7M - SpaceX/xAI: ~0.6M H100-eq ± ~0.3M

but it felt obligated to mention that "for single tightly interconnected NVIDIA training clusters, SpaceX/xAI has been unusually strong."

inferniac··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
it only very recently became competetive, if they proceed with improvements (and beating others on price) their share will grow

>who turns around and uses the money to interfere with elections

thats a very dumb reason considering all rich people do it, most are just not as open about it as Musk

I wonder how enforceable that France thing will be

>This is a nice piece of democracy right here:

this is just eu in a nutshell, the irish were made to vote on both nice and lisbon treaties twice (both were voted no in the first vote)

inferniac··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
>for no apparent reason, lately.

for some godforsaken reason left-lib parties in europe think accepting infinity migrants forever is the most important thing to do

this is becoming more and more unpopular with the voters, leading to right wing parties surging across europe (Denmark, which has an immigration restrictionist left wing government doesnt seem to have an issue here, true mystery)

obviously the solution here is total control of the internet, so that you can suppress dissent

"it's fundamentally inferior to Linux"

I installed linux mint on a new drive in January

Surely I just need to install Nvidia drivers

Install drivers, but they dont work due to some secure boot interaction with driver signing, that made me jump through quite a few hoops (thx to AI for walking me through it fairly well)

I'm sorry but an average person is not ready for this level of bs in their daily life
