in_the_sticks··on A bite of Python
If your code relies on two integers having the same object ID, I daresay you may be doing something wrong.
in_the_sticks··on Arguments against JSON-driven development
That's a useless distinction. Everything is an object in Python. Does that mean Python doesn't have values?
in_the_sticks··on Lawsuit could be the beginning of the end for DRM
That essay could start off better. Assigning your side blue and the opposing side red and then immediately showing that red==bad, blue==good feels kind of hostile to opposing views.
in_the_sticks··on RedHat is hiring to make Linux run better on laptops
My experience over the past decade doesn't quite agree with this. For ease of setup and use, I find that it's usually Intel > nVidia >>> AMD.

When my workplace gives a developer a new desktop (one of Dell's Ubuntu offerings, seems to always use AMD GPUs), that person's first day is normally setting up dual head.

in_the_sticks··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (August 2016)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: Depends on the offer and distance

Technologies: Django, Flask, MySQL, MongoDB, Apache, Nginx, AWS, looking to break into Ruby or pretty much anything else

Résumé/CV: https://bitbucket.org/tdphillips/resume/src/

Email: tdphillips88@gmail.com

I'm up for anything that can provide me a challenge. I'm not in this to be a head-down code monkey. I have the skills to take a problem and find solutions to it, and I want to use them.

in_the_sticks··on Ask HN: Why don't companies hire programmers for fewer hours per day?
Nowhere did I say I don't try. I do try. And in the rare instance that I receive a response, what does it say? Exactly what I said in my post.
in_the_sticks··on Ask HN: Why don't companies hire programmers for fewer hours per day?
Ha. That's a good one.

Employers appear to want you to be in at least a somewhat similar time zone as their core team and have some prior experience working remotely.

Take this hypothetical person living in the sticks. 3.5 years of experience doing local development. No prior remote experience -> not given the time of day by remote shops -> can't get remote experience.
