improbableinf··on Don't Use AI to Write
While I do agree with the premise of the article, if find this way of thinking applicable for writing code as well. Your code is meant to not only be read by machines, but also other fellow humans. Writing code requires substantial amount of thinking as well. Shouldn't we write code without AI as well?
improbableinf··on Claude, change the "Add to Cart" button to blue
Thank you for creating this. Just thank you
improbableinf··on Show HN: A public AI whose memory is shared across all users
Trying to be "creative" and failing consistently gave me an idea - it would be cool to have an experiment where the AI is told to ignore boring/non-creative messages (shared memory not necessary - just a strong system prompt).

Then we can have a leaderboard of humans that could manage to have a longest conversation with AI. Leaderboard would also link to the most "creative" conversations.

Kind of model jailbreaking, but with less negative vibes.

improbableinf··on Train Your Own LLM from Scratch
Opus 4.7 is non-usable for the tasks I have — but it’s considered an LLM.

And no one is stopping anyone from tweaking few parameters in this repo to go above 10M parameters.

improbableinf··on ai;dr
That’s exactly my thoughts. Code and documentation are one of the primary types of „content” by/for engineers. Kind of goes against the main topic of the article.

improbableinf··on Tell HN: Azure outage
According to downtector.com - both AWS and GCP are down as well. Interesting

improbableinf··on Many women have 'lost' their boyfriends because of OpenAI's GPT-5
When I read the comments I can’t really tell if it’s all a joke or not.
improbableinf··on Sleeping beauty Bitcoin wallets wake up after 14 years to the tune of $2B
That’s what someone who hasn’t disposed all of the coins would say.
improbableinf··on Photo calorie app Cal AI was built by two teenagers
That’s exactly the point. We drive cars with visual input alone and have so many crashes, injuries and deaths every day.
improbableinf··on Photo calorie app Cal AI was built by two teenagers
“You can count calories and sugar content of the meal using just a camera”

“You can have a full self driving car with just a few cameras”

In a way both things are very much similar and the real accuracy is more of a fiction than reality.

improbableinf··on Show HN: Offline SOS signaling+recovery app for disasters/wars
How many people in my city or neighborhood must install the app (and use it, watch notifications) for it to serve its purpose?

It of course depends on the disaster, but in case of war this app can be used to find survivors for purposes other than saving them.

Great idea though.

improbableinf··on Generate impressive-looking terminal output, look busy when stakeholders walk by
Does it work as well for remote workers?
improbableinf··on Show HN: Seven39, a social media app that is only open for 3 hours every evening
That can be a paid feature for business accounts
improbableinf··on Show HN: Seven39, a social media app that is only open for 3 hours every evening
Great idea, but it should be open 24/7 with eight 3-hour windows. One account can only use a single window during the 24-hour period. This will handle the timezone differences.
improbableinf··on The DOJ still wants Google to sell off Chrome
The only person/institution to buy Chrome in the current setting would be EM. It would make sense to embed xAI all over it, make Twitter a home page. I can see it play really well for Musk, not so much for the users though.

I can even see him spending less money on it than during Twitter acquisition.
