imposter··on Ask HN: Why is physical reading more effective than digital reading?
Not really. I like the smooth vertical endless scrolling that computers, especially smartphones provides. I read a lot more on the default Books app on my iPhone than any physical books.
imposter··on On the link between great thinking and obsessive walking
This is why I built a walking desk. And funny thing is that, I have tested this that my dual n-back scores are marginally better when I do them while walking at the speeds of 1-1.5 km/h.
imposter··on Doing something is better than doing nothing for most people: study (2014)
> This is after excluding one outlier who shocked himself 190 times

Someone really, really hates being bored.

imposter··on People who live past 105 years old have genes that stop DNA damage
You should have met my granda who in India smoked more than a pack a day all his life and died in his 80s while he did more manual labour each day on his farms everyday than I workout in my 20s.
imposter··on Study finds using Night Shift doesn’t improve sleep
Good sleep is so underrated. What really helped me was getting sunlight early in the day, at 7am or so for 10 minutes. This makes sure that I get sleepyheaded right after 9pm.

Andrew huberman has a great lecture on it, and it's fascinating how light exposure during early mornings can have such a drastic positive affect on sleep.

imposter··on How Going Back to Coding After 10 Years Almost Crushed Me
Me be like how going back to the code that i wrote 2 months back almost crushed me
imposter··on Ask HN: How do I get started with learning about crypto?
I had totally forgotten about his name even though I remembered watching a bunch of his videos back when I first started learning about blockchain. Thank you for sharing this!
imposter··on Why we went passwordless on our new product
Nothing is as passwordless as the existing social login Auth0.
imposter··on Myths about how the brain works
Sounds just like what they teach at vipassana centres.
imposter··on The Now Habit
Good book, but why ignore a plethora of problems like ADHD that might have something to do with the chronic procrastination in a person's life? I just can't go past the first few pages of the book without seeing the fact that most of the symptoms that the author is describing of chronic procrastinators are in fact the exact symptoms that are used to diagnose ADHD in adults. What am I missing?
imposter··on Show HN: Timeless HN – random good HN stories from the past
very cool project ! Thanks for sharing
imposter··on Talking out loud to yourself is a technology for thinking
I do this too, infact I built a walking desk to just assist this habit of mine, so that I can think while looking at my screen and then also walk at the same time. I have been using it for the past couple of days, and till now tbh it doesn't really feel the same as it does with walking around the room but I'm slowly getting used to it, and my knee pain from sitting is gone
imposter··on What If You Could Do It All Over?
Also the same guy who bashes established disorders like ADHD publicly and the whole field of psychiatry(calling them engineers) saying the disorder has deep psychological roots, while himself taking anti-depressants to treat his depression isn't someone worth listening to for anything substantial. This dude thinks a disorder like ADHD is just bad conscientiousness that can be fixed by reading his 12 step book.
imposter··on Being kind to others is good for your health
Or maybe it's the opposite. Healthier people not only care about themselves more, but about others as well.
imposter··on Playing chess is a life lesson in concentration
Chess can be like fucking crack for some of us tho. I personally have went down the rabbit hole of watching one game after another. A binge which lasted for months, that started with watching a few AlphaZero games.

> The ability to play chess well is the sign of a wasted life. ~ Paul Morphy

imposter··on Why I Love Tailwind
My opinion moved from liking tailwind to loving it when tailwindplay got realsed (play.tailwind.com). It's so cool, and faster than any hot-reload ever will be. It's in my opinion is the smoothest way to create UI components on the fly with ease that of drag and drop tools, but with much more extended functionality.
imposter··on Building Your Color Palette
Annnd this is exactly why I now exclusively use tailwind, wherever I can.
imposter··on Ask HN: How to get rid of impostor syndrome?
Think of everyone as a child. Look at them like they're 5 year olds, (only for a minute or two) and try to imagine how their whole life's timeline would have been like. Idk why but it makes me feel good about myself
imposter··on Hackers hijack and publish mental health data of hundreds of people
>The information published could not be more sensitive: it included the patient's name, personal identification number, telephone number, email address and residence address, together with the content of the therapy sessions.

That's just pure evil.

imposter··on NeRF: Representing scenes as neural radiance fields for view synthesis
