import··on Show HN: macOS native DAW with Git branching model
I am curious why it’s called DAW. There are no screenshots so hard to say anything

Does it support VST, AU? Any support for midi? Which OS’s supported?

Is this just a multi tracker recorder that has a git style storage?

import··on I hate GitHub Actions with passion
That’s the only reason for sure.
import··on OpenAI's cash burn will be one of the big bubble questions of 2026
For me OpenAI is the worst of all. Claude code and Gemini deep research is much much more better in terms of quality while ChatGPT hallucinating and saying “sorry you’re right”.
import··on Asahi Linux with Sway on the MacBook Air M2 (2024)
So, Debian? No snaps and that’s my main motivation
import··on Pricing Changes for GitHub Actions
Gitea is almost fully compatible with the GitHub runners. You might need to do small changes in the workflows.
import··on Cloudflare was down
Fraudulent status page again. For sure we are seeing something very different than what they see in the internal monitoring systems.
import··on MinIO is now in maintenance-mode
rclone serve s3, could be.
import··on MinIO is now in maintenance-mode
Seaweed and garage (tried both, still using seaweed)
import··on Cloudflare Global Network experiencing issues
Funny that their status page shows almost all locations “Operational” but they’re not. Are they updating the page manually and keep it green?
import··on Introduction to reverse-engineering vintage synth firmware
Oh wow didn’t know next gen virus is a thing
import··on A Library for Parsing Dutch Smart Meter Requirements (DSMR)
For people who are interested in this, there is an esp32 component (and works awesome) https://esphome.io/components/sensor/dsmr/

There are also several cheap hardware sold with p1 port connection and home assistant integration.

import··on Why Self-Host?
I have two NUC’s (ryzen 7 and intel i5) they’re rock solid.
import··on Why Self-Host?
Not the OP.

I assume everything running in docker.

For containers: Upgrading new versions can be done headless by watchtower or manually.

For the host: You can run package updates regularly or enable unattended upgrades.

Backups can be easily done with cron + rclone. It is not a magic.

I personally run everything inside docker. Less things to concern.

import··on Incident with Webhooks
That’s already what Gitlab and gitea is doing
import··on Synology reverses policy banning third-party HDDs
I switched to Ugreen 2800 and very happy so far. Looks promising and n100 gives plenty of room for containers
import··on Fire destroys S. Korean government's cloud storage system, no backups available
Very possible with sales and especially non nas grade harddisks
import··on Self hosting 10TB in S3 on a framework laptop and disks
Nice to see Garage mentioned. I was deciding between S3-compatible self-hosted alternatives and ended up choosing SeaweedFS. It seems to require less manual configuration compared to Garage
import··on Leveling Up My Homelab
I have two machines and NAS. Running around 50 docker containers. Including home assistant, adguard, wireguard, Vscode server, rss reader, change detection, romm, metube, vaultwarden, immich, caldav carddav server and bunch of custom applications I am working on. (Also hosting some websites).

It’s so much fun and helps me to own my data.

import··on I built Foyer: a Rust hybrid cache that slashes S3 latency
Very curious about comparison between the rclone etc.. s3 caching vs this one.
import··on KDE is now my favorite desktop
I also don’t like the branding and icons tbh but it brings a lot consistency in terms of overall experience.
import··on Conway's Game of Life, but musical
There is a MIDI sequencer called ZOA (for Apple devices) that does a very similar job. I had a lot of fun with it, combining it with synthesisers (I have bunch of them but my fave is Moog's) inside AUM.

import··on We hacked Burger King: How auth bypass led to drive-thru audio surveillance
It seems the post is down because of a DMCA complaint made to Cloudflare. I’m curious about the different levels of DMCA complaints. I’m sure hosting companies receive them, but what happens if I’m self-hosting and not using Cloudflare? Will my ISP or domain provider get a DMCA? Especially curious for this case.
import··on FreeDroidWarn
Like what? I am curious what’s left
import··on The Synology End Game
I have a Ugreen, just got the latest update runs on kernel 6.12
import··on Show HN: Sping – An HTTP/TCP latency tool that's easy on the eye
Not here to advise rewriting from scratch but I found myself considering using go/rust/c stuff instead of Python in the last few years. Less headache and more predictable
import··on Show HN: NextDNS Adds "Bypass Age Verification"
Are you guys still active? I don’t remember how many of my questions went unanswered in the help forums, later switched to self hosted adguard.
import··on Vaultwarden commit introduces SSO using OpenID Connect
You can read the code and see?
import··on Show HN: Edka – Kubernetes clusters on your own Hetzner account
You can just install k3s maybe?
import··on Show HN: Ten years of running every day, visualized
Most of the well known GPS watches supports GPX exports.
import··on Show HN: AirBending – hand gesture based macOS app MIDI controller
I do this with "Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter". iPad basically talks to the midi sequencer via USB.
