immy··on Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
Purchase Sharing is at the bottom of the Family Sharing preferences.
immy··on Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
That's optional.
immy··on Signal adds a payments feature with a privacy-focused cryptocurrency
Signal was a random 'messenger' at one point too. They needed a fast (in seconds) private way to send money. There wasn't one. Until now.
immy··on Deprecated Grandparents of America
I’m so confused. If this is art, I adore it.
immy··on Launch HN: Charge Running (YC W21) – Social running app with real-time coaching
Why did you already build an Android app? You now have to maintain it as you iterate the product. Did you reach some growth milestone and decide to expand platforms in order to maintain growth? Or did you determine that the p2p nature of your app requires maximal network potential in order to have any traction?

Congrats on your progress. This is a difficult and risky path you’ve undertaken! Having used RockMyRun early on, and the new Nike coaching, I definitely appreciate the coaching and am curious how real-time will help (yay accountability) or hinder (ugh, scheduling) me getting my runs in.

immy··on Apple $500 DTK Program Asking for Returns – Giving $200USD Voucher
Those people may lose membership in Developer Program. Also, DTK will become less and less functional as it’s not supported by OS updates. But not a very strong incentive over laziness for someone who isn’t actually a developer.
immy··on High Short Interest Stocks
I hate that this site is getting posted around, when it does not show the update time. These short interest numbers can be 2-4 weeks old depending on NYSE and NASDAQ.
immy··on Bumble S-1
The first part of your sentence is true. As a marketplace, dating apps need as many users as possible.
immy··on Estimated 1.56B face masks will have entered oceans in 2020
Cut up surgical mask and duct tape it around the exterior vent.
immy··on Essay: How do you describe TikTok?
The referral phrase that got my friend to download it: "it's a carnival"
immy··on DoorDash S-1
Sushi restaurant I just ordered from paid 15% to DoorDash.

immy··on Talking, Typing, Thinking: Software Is Not a Desk Job
Manage your glucose levels. It’s not just for diabetics. What you eat (and when) is a large part of it, and cardio is the rest.
immy··on How to say no, for the people pleaser who always says yes
Just make sure to balance out its prejudice with The Will to Change
immy··on I Want to Fix Goodreads
All it does is discourage timid people from making an innovative competitor.
immy··on Persisting as a solo founder
Props on pushing your edge with the post. Building or tapping an existing community of early adopters is an enviable position to be in for a solo founder. Very unsticking. The feedback loop provides much desired certainty. Whether Twitter, Discord/Slack, a forum, whatever.
immy··on Persisting as a solo founder
Perhaps you’ll find your market overlaps largely with users of Brave and DuckDuckGo. It’s helpful to know where to find your people. Good luck.
immy··on Persisting as a solo founder
It’s often part of being a “engineer founder”. You can go your whole career having the market side taken care of by your employer and end up overconfident about the business side.
immy··on Show HN: A simple, free yoga practice app for everyone
If classes are not an option due to SIP, Glo.com is like the Netflix of yoga classes and it's got superb teachers.
immy··on Show HN: A simple, free yoga practice app for everyone
Since you are both positioning this for true beginners AND surfacing YouTube videos which offer varying degrees of teaching skill, level of spirituality, focus on anatomy, etc. I recommend adding a prominent disclaimer about variability of classes, encouraging shopping around. I'd hate for people to try a class that wasn't a fit, and judge the whole practice of yoga. I think a great onboarding would suggest 3 very different classes.
immy··on Breaking Down Lululemon's $500M Mirror Acquisition
In my case, I did buy lululemon men's clothes*. I got a gift card via my yoga studio and used it towards a nice men's tech shirt. But then I sprung for some soft and durable boxer briefs. They had a whole wall of fancy shorts with liners, but they don't seem much better in practice than running shorts from other brands. I also once used a voucher for a free Lululemon yoga mat via a charity event.
immy··on Taaalk [Update: site now back up]
Sounds like Branch (2012-2014(?))
immy··on The world of cheap produce and its consequences
Also enzymes can help Aka “prebiotics”
immy··on The world of cheap produce and its consequences
From what I’ve seen they’re primarily in tourist centers, for the Americans.
immy··on Linear – A fast issue tracker
Boo to this take. Not all tools are the same and “Good tools obviate bad processes.” is a mantra I saw once in a talk that has stuck with me for 15 years. You’re not wrong that it’s a people problem, but tools shape human behavior. That’s Design.

The quote is attributed to Michael B. Johnson, aka wave, Software Director at Pixar.

immy··on Klutz Press: books built for learning stuff
Last week I found the science book in a Little Free library and I came home so excited. I have fond childhood memories of cooking hot dog slices with the fresnel lens. A book so dense with engagement. I am keeping it as a reminder of good design. Unless my nephew wants it :)
immy··on Foam – A Roam Research alternative with VSCode, Markdown and GitHub
And the competition will check the pricing. Roam is the only block game in town, for now.
immy··on The Acorn Archimedes was the first desktop to use the ARM architecture
As long as there's mutable software binaries, DRM can be subverted. If core OS11 software lived on a special R/W chip instead of a disk, that'd be quite a move. Apple hasn't even done that with iPhone though.
immy··on Ask HN: How do you read long PDFs?
Speaking from friends opinions, reMarkable tablet is the way to go for folx often working with PDFs. Great annotation and highlighting. E-ink display. https://remarkable.com/store/remarkable
immy··on Show HN: OmSave – Safari Extension for OmniFocus on macOS
What you built is fine. I’m curious where the customers will come from. Tried search ads on Mac App Store? At $3.99 you should at least break even
