This account has been banned for disagreeing with dang too many times as of https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46699941 so now I use an array of sockpuppets instead.

This account has been secretly marked so the votes and flags I cast do not have any effect. This is because I disagreed with dang. Dang has confirmed this by email.

I am also blocked from emailing hn@ycombinator.com.

The buck always stops with the platform owners. You don't get to blame users for moderation decisions.

Would it make sense to build this on top of Freenet Locutus?

You said you banned me, but what you actually did was reduce my rate limit to 2 comments per rate limit period.

You deleted a comment from me where I said that drugs don't let you access extra dimensions or planes of existence, just alter your mental processes so you feel like you do. Care to explain that one?

Other moderated comments included: "HN has word-based flagging" and "flags should not be used to indicate disagreement".

immibis··on American importers and consumers bear the cost of 2025 tariffs: analysis
You don't explain the aspect where a certain political group generates way more flaggable content, and then you flag-ban those who flag it, which promotes that content because it is no longer flagged.

You also don't explain how 2 posts per 3 hours constitutes a "ban".

immibis··on IP Addresses Through 2025
Also every mobile phone network ever (with a handful of exceptions) is IPv6-only, with a slow translation layer to reach v4 sites. Your app or website literally runs faster if you use IPv6.
immibis··on The Zen of Reticulum
Personally I'm waiting for the "everyone is 12 internet theory" to get a Wikipedia page. (Of course I am - I'm 12)

immibis··on IP Addresses Through 2025
For some background why IoT products will stop being insecure: if you sell one in the EU, you're liable for all the damage your botnet causes.

Luckily, common EU home routers have firewalls, even for IPv6. And it's so much easier to punch holes on purpose! Instead of messing with port forwarding and internal and external IP addresses, you can just say "this device is a server, please allow traffic on port 80 and 443, thank you"

immibis··on Nvidia Stock Crash Prediction
It costs eight figures to create the masks (patterns) to use in the process of creating a modern chip. Just because it doesn't cost the eleven figures of the factory itself doesn't make it cheap.
immibis··on Nvidia Stock Crash Prediction
The whole economy will crash. Probably won't be due to China invading Taiwan though. More likely because the president decided to delete their country's world reserve currency status (which is another word for a trade deficit).
immibis··on Nvidia Stock Crash Prediction
It's easy to predict that a bubble will pop, but there's a variance in the timing of approximately half a human lifetime, and if you don't guess that correctly, you throw away yours.

Everything that can't go on forever will eventually stop. But when?

immibis··on Article by article, how Big Tech shaped the EU's roll-back of digital rights
Recording makes it easier because you can get people on your side by making it look heroic and cool - for example, see Is-real. It's famously impossible to make an anti-war movie because explosions and machine guns look cool on-screen.
immibis··on Linux kernel framework for PCIe device emulation, in userspace
The "DMA cards" used for video game cheating are generic PCIe cards and (at least the one I got) comes with open documentation (schematics, example projects etc).
immibis··on Linux kernel framework for PCIe device emulation, in userspace
I recently bought a DMA cheating card because it's secretly just an FPGA PCIe card. Haven't tried to play around with it yet.

Seems unlikely you'd emulate a real PCIe card in software because PCIe is pretty high-speed.

The left-wing reality bias strikes again.

We live in a capitalism. If something makes capitalistic sense it happens, otherwise it doesn't. Stuff will not be manufactured locally at great expense when it can instead be imported for free.

Sure they can. Look how efficiently Germany did it.
immibis··on American importers and consumers bear the cost of 2025 tariffs: analysis
To get free stuff you have to get free stuff. Why would you manufacture stuff, at great expense, when you're getting it for free? That makes no capitalistic sense.

Biden sold more weapons to Israel than any president before him.

Yes, I asked dang by email, and he told me flags from my account have been disabled because I flagged things he agreed with. I think votes are also disabled.

The buttons are still there, but they don't do anything.

Dems broadly want Trump-esque policies to be enacted. They don't care if it's them or the republicans enacting those policies. They do need to fill both slots to prevent any danger of a left wing person getting elected.

HN is more tightly controlled than it lets on. User moderation tools are suspended if a user doesn't use them in accordance with a pro-corporate right-wing bias.

Being pleasantly surprised by things that should be the bare minimum is not a sign you hold him in high regard. How do you feel about his attacks on Gaza?
immibis··on American importers and consumers bear the cost of 2025 tariffs: analysis
"Trade deficit" is another word for "free stuff" and also another word for "being the world's reserve currency". America receives massive quantities of free stuff from other countries and gets to control the banking system of the entire world as a side effect (this is how it manages to collect taxes from non-resident citizens and how it makes sanctions meaningful). Why doesn't America want that to continue?

immibis··on What came first: the CNAME or the A record?
Your code runs slower on mobile devices, since (as a rule of thumb) mobile networks are ipv6-only and ipv4 traffic has to pass through a few layers of tunneling.
