Quickbooks/Xero - We do a compatible data export for them. Which works okay for our bookkeepers (Pilot). We are working on integrating with their bank aggregator. Xero will be done pretty soon. Quickbooks, I don't have an ETA on.

Mobile apps - coming soon. Any particular features you would like to see.

Check deposits - will be live on the website first, early next week.

Limits - For most types of transactions they are $200k/day. With some variances. There are other limits. If you have a specific one in mind or want more details email me!

immad··on Mercury – Banking built for startups
I am co-founder, CEO of Mercury.

Excited to see this on HN. Happy to answer any questions.

We set out wanting to:

a) deliver an amazing online banking experience for startups b) help entrepreneurs understand their revenues/costs better and succeed c) deliver great financial services.

We have a long way to go but are excited to unveil what we have achieved so far.

Mercury will provide your startup a FDIC-insured checking account, debit card, savings account (earning 1-2%). All online, with an application that is finished on average in under 10 minutes and approved usually within a few hours.

We focused pretty heavily on the UI. Hopefully you’ll appreciate little details, like our extremely flexible transaction date picker.

We have a lot more to come on the product side, including better analytics to help you understand your revenue/costs and APIs to build on top of Mercury, as well as new financial services to help startups succeed.

We’d love to hear any and all feedback you have. We’ll be looking at comments here all day, or you can email us directly at immad AT mercury.co, max AT mercury.co or jason AT mercury.co.

Currently no. But it's a normal bank account so everything should work.

We plan to integrate in to Stripe/Paypal and provide analytics/useful info on the Mercury dashboard.

immad··on Ask HN: How do you control your diet while working at a tech company?
I just ban myself from eating anything with high carbs/sugar in the office. I find it easier to have classes of food that are not allowed rather than curtail myself at specific levels or count calories.
immad··on Women: Learn to Program This Summer
Someone might have 20 years of relevant domain experience and no coding experience.

Also one can't get to 5 years without doing the 1st year. So I don't really see your point.

immad··on Ask HN: What are the best banking offers for startups today?
We (Mercury) are working on a bank for startups. This is my 4th startup and we have $6m in funding based in SF.

We are working on a bunch of product features that are startup specific (APIs, integrations etc) as well as a normal checking account + debit card.

Still early but we are in alpha with a few customers, send me an email immad AT Mercury DOT co and I can share more details and give you early access if possible.

immad··on YC Top Companies List
I believe that they are much better than S&P500 index.

Returns are very top heavy so as long as you are in some of the top ones they can be really good. SV Angel did Airbnb and FundersClub did Coinbase.

But past performance is not an indicator of future performance...

immad··on YC Top Companies List
SV Angel and FundersClub have deployed an “index fund” strategy on yc batches for a long time. So makes sense that they are high up on the list.
immad··on YC Top Companies List
Also the bottom of that list has companies worth 400x less than the top of the list.

So you would want to apply another scaling curve for that.

immad··on Solar Just Hit a Record Low Price in the U.S
Why can't existing energy infrastructure handle the gaps? Does it take too long to boot up a natural gas plant just for the night?

This is ridiculous. We live in a generally improving world with declining global poverty, declining child mortality, declining war etc etc.

There are still tons of problems but I don’t think such a pessimistic outlook is useful to solving them. We should look for concrete political and technological solutions.

In theory you could build a decentralized Twitter/Facebook using Ethereum but without 10k+ TPS there is no practical way to get enough users using it.

immad··on Seed funding has declined
ICOs are a more recent phenomenon and I don't think the volume of ICOs (though high) can account for the drop over 3 years.
immad··on Seed funding has declined
Other strong factors that are not mentioned:

1. Seed funding has long delays to liquidity. The glut of seed investors, money and excitement in 2012-2015 got a lot of investors interested but none of them have got returns yet so they got tapped out.

2. Accelerators like YC have built up a strong brand so seed funding is more concentrated as well.

3. You need less and less money at seed stage so expectations are higher and one would expect less funding activity.

Overall a gentle decline in seed funding from its slightly bubbly levels is a healthy sign for the ecosystem.
