Would you like to see a global tech workers union or guild?
Or a maintainers fund to support all the FLOSS projects the world depends on?
It's super early days, the possibility space is wide open! Come join the conversation :)

I really look forward to trying this out, good luck, god speed, all the best, happy holidays :)
It includes grants for climate change and grants for longevity.
To answer your question, the difference from kickstarter is that grants for public goods don't produce products - they produce public goods.
It is possible to have many cynical takes, but if you scratch the surface, you'll see that funding public goods really is what this is all about.
Really cool work - and it works! I'm going to noodle around and deploy it to gitlab :)
On a philosophical aside, it hurts my heart to see "Open-Source" with the logo of a private company (microsoft-owned github) representing this Free Software for Free Culture. I'm embarrassed to bring it up, but I feel like the battle for our collective soul is being decided here. I do not wish to fault the author for making the most convenient choice for easy user onboarding, I just wish the world were otherwise.
Thank you again to the wonderful author!

Please continue on this adventure, you're onto something great!
Crypto financial services are a huge step forward in environments with broken banking systems. The US is one such place.
You're living in comfort and wealth in a civilized nation with modern regulated banks, so your perspective is narrow.
I have signed up for game sites before, sites that let me play and invest my time and attention in a game - I created accounts with those sites to save my progress. There have also been cases of making an account to access multiplayer features in games I beat the single player campaign for.
The real key is the games.

I already have ways to message my friends, this adds no value there.
I MIGHT want to tell my friends if there were some novel games we could go on your site and play together. The one game shown when I scroll aaaaaall the way down is... the blockracer tutorial people make for their first unity game? But I can't even play it! Zero chance of me making an account without playing games first. Give users value before asking for something from them in return.
Is your business idea that you'll be a game studio?
I'm setting up my personal website, at myname.url , and I want to have a way of letting people get in touch with me privately and securely.
Right now I have me@URL alongside me@gmail and me@hey because sometimes mails just don't arrive correctly, or go to spam, etc. Depending on the sender to send again to another address is not satisfying to me.
I'd prefer not to have to stand up and maintain my own server. I can get a PO box, and I can get a synthetic phone number, but I really crave something I can really trust. Something encrypted, deniable, and having all sorts of nice qualities.
From an security aesthetics POV, I love projects like https://github.com/maqp/tfc . What other projects like this are there?
We have all had the experience of an important email going to spam and being missed, with no visibility to the sender. I want to be sure I'm actually getting my messages, especially messages from people contacting me for the first time.
I respect and applaud the effort, and encourage persistence - looking forward to V3 :)
It's you.
And, this isn't really a stats question: Are these meaningful skilled jobs, or are they jobs that could be done by anyone with a pulse?
To try to understand, I suggest you try putting yourself in an applicant's shoes. Try applying to these companies yourself and keep a journal of how the interactions unfold. You'll learn something!
Who makes these choices?
The most common story I hear is of parents who get a lot of information and try to make a good choice, but ultimately get overwhelmed and choose 'at random' from what's available.
Software that feels like home.
I have this feeling using QubesOS, warm and fuzzy.
Move your mouse around, it's real 3D!
It makes me happy every day I look at it! The code needs an update, but it still makes me smile. Hope you enjoy it :)
