Are you suggesting that models like Muse Spark 1.3, Grok 4.6 High, Kimi K3 Max, GLM-5.3 Max, Qwen 3.8 Max, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Agnes 3.0 Flash, Fugu Max, and others are so far behind GPT-6 Astra or Claude Fable 5.1 in capabilities that they have some sort of impenetrable moat that will prevent others from ever catching up or something?

There are really only two companies: Anthropic and OpenAI. Nobody else matters in this space right now (this might change, but we’re talking about the right now).
I like how he so casually dismissed all other labs, including leading US labs that might be nearing RSI right now. And how he treats 'right now' so rigidly, as if seven years ago, when GPT-2 was released, was some distant past.

ilyaizen··on Is AI "good" yet? – tracking HN's sentiment on AI coding
I made this site analyzes Hacker News developers sentiment toward AI coding that it examines ~1,000 AI-related articles from the past 3 years to see whether HN is leaning toward enthusiasm or skepticism, and which side is louder. Please check it out, thank you.

Thank you for sharing.

Seriously, what's a good alternative to HN these days, Refetch.io? This site seems to have turned too LinkedIn-like.

Thank you, much appreciated.

Of course, not everyone who appears on HN's front page is an experienced developer, and I'm not a statistician. I should note that the data underwent filtering and ideally it didn't count the managers' fluff.

This task is inherently impractical, even with comments, nobody should care about averages. If you want the real experts' opinion, go to the experts. https://youtu.be/-0MD3Jn60fw?t=130

I hope people understand that it's a meme website lol.

Thank you so much, I _really_ appreciate this first, positive feedback. I only posted this couple of hours ago and my goal is to reach the front page. Here's the Show HN post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46851589
ilyaizen··on Why do people still talk about AGI?
What? What does it have to do with anything that I said? Wow, I think HN has lost its spark.
ilyaizen··on Why do people still talk about AGI?
Don't believe the hype, this is tribal thinking. Everybody seems to have these widely diverging opinions on AI lately. What does AGI have to do with predicting the next token stochastically like a parrot? Oh, people say you can brute-force AGI, if only things are answered correctly. I get that, I still see SOTA models sometimes fail like babies. I also mostly see them perform at a much higher intelligence and work ethics than I can, but maybe I'm too hard on myself.

Anyway, here's something I've recently build that shows the HN consensus when it comes to AI-Coding (spoiler: they say it's quite good): https://is-ai-good-yet.com/ Is AI “good” yet? – A survey website that analyzes Hacker News sentiment toward AI coding.

ilyaizen··on Yet Another HN Clone – Hacker News Top Stories Presented with Trends
Sorry to hear that! I’m still working on it and open to suggestions. I’m fairly new to web development and experimenting as I go, but I’ll definitely try to address those issues. The trend indicators show up when stories shift in position below the upvote count. Thanks for the feedback!
