I don't think we are on the verge of a y pestus pandemic, but you dismiss it somewhat lightly. Yes, there are antibiotics but there are also weaponized antibiotic resistant strains. Yes, rodents were key to the spread in medieval europe, but there are now weaponized pneumonic plague strains that spread airborne...
why would anyone connect with this to an unknown/untrusted machine? it's more like giving away a gun that will shoot you if you point it at your own head and pull the trigger
this post is giving "the 1800s called, they want their smallpox victims back" energy. the entire scientific community agreed covid vaccines are safe, but I suppose you did your own research
I mean there is probably a cluster of neurons somewhere in the brain that if damaged would also prevent you from perceiving time going forward. Would it immediately strip you of consciousness? I don't think so.
power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. technology is unlocking unprecedented levels of power. make no mistake mass surveillance = power, nothing else. any benefit to society is accidental, not the goal. we don't need this kind power in hands of nobody.
I'm tired of giving up privacy in the name of children. Children are were and will be fine even without my access to internet being gated by a gov issued ID thank you very much
hm, you're right. looks like they just take the official figure and slap a constant on it. regardless, I still think the official figure is fundamentally flawed and doesn't reflect the health of the job market ~ underemployment, workers that gave up looking, etc
by some measures unemployment is at 25% and this aligns with my personal experience much better than frankly the bs 4% rate that is being pushed by this admin
how is EU supposed to open hormuz? do you expect them to raise armies and go to war over a shipping lane? I think US demonstrated plenty enough this is not a viable strategy (this was known for the past 50 years)
the admin cuts funding by 40% ~ cutting something by 40% is bad for it ~ burning something down is an euphemism for acting on something in a way that's bad for it. what are you not following?
“how do we make the researchers accountable for actually getting something done?”
do we even need this? i think accepting that some will produce nothing useful is just cost of doing business. certainly better than imposing bureaucracy in name of accountability
it's not very difficult, it's impossible right now. you know you yourself are conscious and that's all that you can prove. you can extrapolate to other people and animals and plants but that's not proof
