I think the philosophy of delaying the plugin system as long as possible is one of the reasons helix has achieved that.
With Helix I just have to learn selection first, and few different binds compared to vim. With Kakoune, I have to onboard into a more complex ecosystem, in addition to that. A lot of people already have vim/neovim config fatigue so that's not very compelling.
There's a reason most modern languages are completely blurring the lines and allowing you to think with multiple paradigms.
I'd be more upset with institutions lacking in functional programming coursework. OOP is dominant, I can't see why people get so irritated by a few annoying functional evangelists. And while annoying, I don't think the motivation there is always "Blind devotion to functional"
And most of the well written react projects I've worked on tend to be overwhelmingly functional in style. Hooks just make sense when thinking about the lifecycle of a UI. Shared state and imperative code with react just feels wrong.
Stop listening to functional programming bros. Watch someone like Zoran Horvat. While I can't cosign all of his opinions, he tries to bridge the functional/OOP gap for OOP programmers. OOP programmers urgently need to distance themselves from this binary narrative. Everyone should understand functional programming and how they can utilize functional approaches in every language or paradigm. For me it is a requirement of understanding software development.
Absolutely every institution teaches OOP practices, they also need to teach functional practices. These aren't sports teams.
I'd argue they ran one of the least controversial campaigns in comparison to the current global political climate. I think those in disagreement were successfully convinced by the opposing party.
Trump's first few weeks makes it clear he was the big mover and shaker.
I refuse to believe there is only one simple honorable objective when it comes to KLA. I simply do not care if companies can't figure out how to stop cheaters without it. What about our experience? You might complain about cheaters, but what if I can't even play the game because of KLA?
Played plenty of recent MP games on Linux just fine and cheating was never experience breaking.
If so, you'd have more time to dedicate to those projects.
If not, maybe you would be inspired to try a new project that you didn't have time for previously.
There's always work to be done. Some people could actually become organized, exercise, spend more time with their families, be better parents.
In the past when I've been unemployed I've spent the time to refine myself in new ways. If you've never had a sabbatical I suggest trying it if you have the opportunity.
Also when it comes to breaking proton support (Which does happen) Valve + GloriousEggroll give you access to plenty of older and special versions. Surely that's better than rolling back entire software?
My game doesn't work -> I go to protonDB -> Users saying use X Proton Version or Y ProtonGE version -> I switch the layer used in steam
Hard to imagine a simpler process than that
The steam deck is 100% usable without leaving 'game mode' even a single time. Something that is genuinely impossible using Windows as a base. That's the important part
You already have the full picture in your head, why not get there faster?
