ihatepython··on Disassembly of the Asteroids arcade game firmware
That's a nice strategy.

I was just referencing the line from the movie Pixels, staying in the middle probably doesn't work that well.

ihatepython··on CamelCase vs. underscores revisited (2013)
Instead of using spaces in identifier names, how about using %20 in its place?

For example, the identifier "home address" becomes "home%20address"

ihatepython··on Meta Ending Suspension of Trump’s Accounts
How many times did Bill Clinton go to Epstein's island? Are you OK with pedophiles?
ihatepython··on Disassembly of the Asteroids arcade game firmware
I recommend staying in the middle
ihatepython··on Meta Ending Suspension of Trump’s Accounts
Bill Clinton? Bush? Obama? Not at all uncharted territory.
ihatepython··on Has Earth’s inner core stopped its strange spin?
And hide your dog, but don't worry about your cat, she can take care of herself.
ihatepython··on A custom-designed IDE SSD for old PCs
This isn't my experience.

ihatepython··on Show HN: Synesthesia – Visual Website Builder
The name is a bit confusing because there is another program called Synthesia that is basically Guitar Hero for piano.
ihatepython··on Why developers never use state machines (2011)
There is no line. An instance of an object is a state machine. Everybody is arguing over nomenclature.
ihatepython··on Holmes Belongs in Prison, Not $13,000-a-Month Manor, US Says
I'd have to say that Eddie Murphy's best movie is actually 'Best Defense'.

But perhaps the plot for Holmes could be that she has 48 hours to find out who is responsible for Covid-19. Teaming up with Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, the unlikely trio find themselves in a race against time. Was it Fauci? Or someone else?

ihatepython··on Holmes Belongs in Prison, Not $13,000-a-Month Manor, US Says
I think they should send her to prison, but conditionally release her for 48 hours so that she can help to solve a crime.
ihatepython··on When was the term ‘directory’ replaced by ‘folder’?
What would be the visual representation of a 'directory'?

For me, it's 'directory' for cli, and 'folder' for gui.

Except for 'Directory Opus', it still makes sense to say 'directory'.

ihatepython··on Jacinda Ardern resigns as prime minister of New Zealand
She doesn't serve her constituents. None of the present-day politicians do. In her case, she serves Klaus Schwab and the WEF. She is a Young Global Leader.
ihatepython··on Boris Yeltsin's visit to a suburban Houston supermarket in 1989 (2016)
What did they think when they went to Best Buy? (or maybe it was CompUSA, Radio Shack, or Circuit City back then)
ihatepython··on Godot for AA/AAA game development – What's missing?
Gary Kitchen's GameMaker? I remember playing with that when I was a kid on the C64. That and SEUCK (Shoot Em Up Construction Kit)
ihatepython··on Windows 98 icons are great (2015)
In my opinion, iOS 5 was the peak for iOS, iOS 7 is where everything went off the rails. Present-day iOS has a notch, a screen with rounded corners, no home button, and endless places on the screen that are swipe-able.

Haven't used OS X since Mojave, but compared to Jaguar, there are no scrollbars, the interface is designed more for a trackpad instead of a mouse. The peak for OS X in my opinion was the Panther/Tiger/Snow Leopard era.

ihatepython··on Windows 98 icons are great (2015)
I don't like how it's written in C++ (and I'm not a Rust person either)
ihatepython··on Windows 98 icons are great (2015)
Personally I prefer the Windows 3.0/3.1 icons. Pretty sure that Susan Kare did some of those
ihatepython··on ChatGPT scores 80% on SAT reading/writing with collective chain of thought
That's comforting. In the year 2505, ChatGPT will be way smarter than any human.
ihatepython··on ChatGPT scores 80% on SAT reading/writing with collective chain of thought
Q: If you have 1 bucket that holds 2 gallons, and another bucket that holds 5 gallons, how many buckets do you have?

Would ChatGPT get this question correct?

> "This happened in WWII so if these conditions starts to appear it risks to happen again".

There is a reason why history repeats. This kind of learning never happens in human society.

We currently have similar warning signs to WWII, but nobody cares. We are currently at the stage where if you express an opinion that does not agree with the approved narrative, you get downvoted/cancelled. But nobody cares.

ihatepython··on Routine vaccinations drop among U.S. kindergartners for the third year in a row
I believe he is saying that the state has ultimate authority over their child, not the parent.
ihatepython··on The iPhone Keyboard – Make It or Break It (2022)
Can you prove that?
ihatepython··on The iPhone Keyboard – Make It or Break It (2022)
The situation should improve, now that ChatGPT has been released.

It's only a matter of time until it gets integrated with the keyboard.

ihatepython··on OpenAI starts testing ChatGPT premium
If the majority of young people feel the same as you, the future will probably be very similar to the movie 'Idiocracy'.
ihatepython··on Apple announces full Swift rewrite of the Foundation framework (2022)
I lost all my files during the transition to APFS.

Luckily I had a backup, but it was about a month old.

ihatepython··on On leading underscores and names reserved by the C and C++ languages
This.
ihatepython··on We asked ChatGPT to write a Sherlock Holmes mystery
Perhaps in your case, you are correct, the brain is not a computer, but in the general case, the brain is probably a computer, and in some cases, it's a super-computer.
ihatepython··on A mistake that killed Japan’s software industry?
I think if a Japanese person created something like Javascript, it would bring dishonor and shame to himself and his family for 3 generations. Even his grand-children would have to bear the burden.

Therefore, something like Javascript would never emerge from Japan. Only an American would be able to create an abomination like Javascript.

ihatepython··on A mistake that killed Japan’s software industry?
I don't know exactly why, but whenever I write something in Python I get extremely irritated. I'm always worried that I'm going to clobber the namespace somehow. Some functions like 'str' are extremely short and common, and happens to be a variable I always use for temporary variables. The forced indentation messes up the code when I want to debug something by commenting out a bunch of lines.

But sometimes there is a builtin module that makes something easier to do, so I am faced with a 'Kobayashi Maru', a no-win situation

I've never used Nim or Crystal. Rust is too complicated for me to bootstrap and not particularly compatible with older architectures as far as I remember (I believe had trouble with compiling 32-bit)
