igorsyl··on Ask HN: Anyone tried running two start ups at a time?
Elon Musk.
igorsyl··on Tell HN: Startup school acceptance emails are out
Here.
igorsyl··on Founders' Accents
This is a case where the founder has an American accent yet people did not understand what he tried to convey correctly. I think PG should have referred to founders' elocution, diction, communication skills, etc. instead of only their accents. As we've seen here one can have no foreign accent at all and you may still be misunderstood.
igorsyl··on Show HN – Apptimize: A/B testing for native Android, iOS apps
Why should anyone choose to use Apptimize over a free open-source alternative?
igorsyl··on Bitcoin rises
I always tell financially conservative people they can buy US$1 worth of Bitcoins just so they can learn how it works. I think many newcomers believe Bitcoins are indivisible.
igorsyl··on Other Examples of Craigslist Spam Tactics [NSFW]
"Respond to ads where people are seeking roomates. If they respond back, game on." I've seen most posts ask for not non-solicitation.
igorsyl··on Ask HN: possible to get paid $300/hour as a programmer?
Finance.
igorsyl··on A room so quiet, no one can spend more than 45 minutes in it
I wonder what it sounds like in units of noise cancelling headphones.

igorsyl··on Teen solves Newton’s 300-year-old riddle
Has anyone found the publication? All I have read is hype about this but I can't find the original source.
igorsyl··on “I’m just like a little kid. I get bored easily and computers excite me..."
“I don’t really like putting a price-tag on the stuff I do. That’s just like not the point,”

Eight years later he is finally putting a price-tag on it.

igorsyl··on Every time an engineer joins Facebook, a startup dies
People may create more value at a large company but most of the compensation will go to the founders and investors.
igorsyl··on Ask HN: How do you deal with missing out on the Facebook money train?
Should we expect an Occupy Facebook gathering later this week?
igorsyl··on Ask HN: YC Work At a Startup advice?
I'm surprised this post has received no comments or advice from Silicon Valley founders. I believe the competition for talent is fierce and most companies would love to have more developers readily available to join their companies.
igorsyl··on Ask HN: Where are all the iOS meetups in San Francisco
Meetup is an NYC-based company so it may be the case that SF prefers a locally-built solution instead.
igorsyl··on My Doctor's Office Asked Me To Lie
The medical industry is in need of disruption. Has anyone played with the idea of "seeing" a doctor located in a different country using a video app? I imagine the experience would be better than what most people deal with in the states. US doctors have too much power and they take advantage of it. A remote doctor would be under more competition and be willing to provide better service.

igorsyl··on SparkFun Gets A Subpoena
Did Sparkfun send a representative to the court house? I'd be surprised if the court forced Sparkfun to show up and incur transportation and other related costs.
igorsyl··on Derek Sivers Renounces his US Citizenship
Did they disclose the fees before providing this service? Or they just surprised you with the bill in the mail? Was this tax-deductible?
igorsyl··on Unicode URL - ☃.net
Clever but how would mom and pop type this into the address bar? I guess this is meant solely for clickable links.
igorsyl··on Gumroad raises $7 million from KPCB
What is Gumroad's competitive advantage? It doesn't look like it's its technology but its brand.
igorsyl··on FBI pushing for surveillance backdoors on websites
I have several friends living in China. They use Chinese version of Yelp, Facebook, etc. They are aware that the government spies on their online activities. But they use these services anyways, albeit with much care. I believe most Americans easily forget about this.
igorsyl··on FBI pushing for surveillance backdoors on websites
I hope this spurs the massive adoption of client-side encryption. Server-side encryption has proved to be just a marketing tool.
igorsyl··on Facebook to Set I.P.O. Price Range at $28 to $35
You are right from a technical point of view. However the psychology is very different.
igorsyl··on Ask HN: Who is going to 'Work at a Startup 2012'?
I heard many people submitted verbatim copies of their resume. Imagine having to browse through hundreds of applications and ASCII resumes. I suspect formatting of resumes trumped content.
igorsyl··on Ask HN: Who is going to 'Work at a Startup 2012'?
Did they reject anybody? There is a small marginal cost for every invitation they issued but a huge option value if any of their startups hires someone.
